Rakudai was good enough. It had good animation at least sometimes as far as I remember as well as a great soundtrack both of which were supported by the narrative on a basic level at least. Re zero was great so I cant pick isekai but it really feels like its carrying given the competition is outright insane wishfufillment and constant rambling about xp and skills and other boring shit in the most generic rpg settings possible(yes even more generic than re zero's).

SolYuribait is an easy pick though since it always fails to keep me engaged and I end up putting 90% of them on pause forever. Not saying they need a bunch of stuff and action happening but if these things are so important and engaging to the characters in the show they need to not leave me behind and actually convey and make those feelings relateable to me as a viewer.

If your going to shit on Re:Zero, at least specify which version you're shitting. The anime version is generally accepted among Re:Zero source fans to be shit as they left a tremendous amount of detail in the third arc. For one thing they cut out a large portion of Rem's personality.

I'm pretty sure, at least in part, why fujo interest in mech shows isn't as insane as it once was is because their attention is on shows pandering directly to them and easily shippable sports series. It's like the genre equivalent of a containment board.

Chaika was great, honestly. But it's strange, I say it's great because it was very enjoyable, but the story itself was nothing groundbreaking. I was fairly mediocre, but it didn't really have any major flaws. The characters were likable, the fights were nice, I especially loved the parts where they split up in a mission because their actions would always intertwine somehow. Nobody would say it's a must watch, but I don't think anyone could watch it and actively dislike it.

Just a macguffin collecting adventure story holds enough entertainment value in of itself these days for me compared to the RPG-fantasy setting with MMO logic being utilized instead of the author crafting its own world. Having a crew of characters that work together is always a plus too and Akari/Toru's teamwork in general with the two being dirty fighters is what really made me enjoy Chaika a lot more too.

While isekai nowadays is extremely overused out of this 3 genres, still it is easily the best and has the most potential .I myself rarely watch isekai type of anime but I do enjoy some of them like Konosuba and Rezero of this year.

Expanding on that, is giving focus to love itself is detrimental? Notice how the highest acclaimed visual novels put in on the background even as far as making h-scenes feel shoehorned like mollusc into fruit salad.
