Despite watching it three times, I still don't understand Mawaru Penguindrum.

i'm at ep 10 . is it that complex ? nothing deep is happening
>>150375621
Deep things have already happened, anon. They've been happening since the beginning of the first episode and things are only going to get even deeper from here. Isn't it electrifying?
>>150373348
That... actually explains it perfectly. Well done, who made this.
Destiny.

Good riddance
The WEG for Eva with the refraction image applies even moreso here.
List all the catchphrases in the show.

Is there something you don't understand specifically or just all of it?
The underlying message isn't really complicated, but the entire show has incredible depth with every little thing that's crammed into it. Kind of like realizing that even the folk song in the Cow episode of Utena had meaning. The show probably means what you think it means and Ikuhara wouldn't have it any other way.
Shinireru darou?
That's because it's terribly written.

Not only that, but it does the same thing Kubrick does (and many others, really): powerful visuals, memes like >>150375998
catchy music, cinematography... It's very distracting when you're not used to it.
Anno is clear about how he feels about Ikuhara in Evangelion, but you never see any sign of Anno in any of Ikuhara's works.
>>150376600
I thought Sanetoshi was Anno
>>150375621
It's been deep from the first half of the first epsiode.

The Third should be in Recyclable (because broiler)
>>150377424
Isn't it foreshadowing?
She ended up not being recycled while one was burned and both brothers recycled.
>>150377424
Nah, because Kanba's life got recycled for Himari.
The child broiler isn't really a good recyclable analogy.
>>150377135
ah fuck never knew thats what those said how foreshadowing

How come Ikuhara only knows one way to end a series?
Utena, Mawaru, Yurikuma all ended with the protagonist leaving some institution or something leaving the antagonist in some kind of endless childish game that serves only to satisfy their vanity.
>>150377135
It blew my mind when I noticed that the second time through.
How does Ikuni do it?

SKU>Penguindrum>YKA
>>150377839
Utena had such great characters. They're all still so memorable.
>>150373348
Who was the person who chose Kanba? I forgot.
>>150377947
It's a good ending.
>>150378971
It's pretentious, it's a holier-than-thou way of expressing his message.
>>150377947
Because the institution represents society and the villain represents the arbitrary nature of social structure. Ikuhara's big into all that 20th century literary theory stuff that peddles those ideologies hard.
