I marathoned the whole thing a few days back. I really don't know what to think, mostly because it wasn't exactly what I was expecting. Most of these popular Korean manga tend to be these power-fantasy kind of deals where the MC is so cool and shit, but they tend to lose steam as the story progresses usually showing just how amateurish the author is. However with this I feel it's the complete opposite and the story is getting more and more steam as it goes on. I'm also pretty used to manga blueballing the reader when it comes to things that you expect and look forward to happening but with this manga I felt there was almost none of that.

The author seems to have put a shit ton of thought into the setting and lore as well so I'm really looking forward to how the story unfolds.

I don't dislike Manwha and I do have knowledge when it comes to drawing, coloring and comics, that's why I say that the coloring in the manga isn't all that impressive.

The color palettes used are the worst, too many different colors that are really saturated, they contrast each other too heavily and it looks unappealing. The technique used ain't bad at all, that's why I mentioned how many of the effects used for powers and such are pretty good, but its the color choices themselves that's really off.

Personally I liked the Workshop Battle, but I'm worried that every arc since then has been trying to kind of recapture the magic of that one so to speak in ways I'm not keen with.

Like SIU has a bad habit of stirring up drama and conflict by doing the good old "villains have taken Baam's friends hostage, now he is forced to fight when he doesn't want to!" which was nice like the first three times it has been done. But right now it's just a cheap way to give him reason to be fighting people with his kind of personality.

I actually kind of preferred his time under FUG and with Wangnan's group because of thi. While it was technically a case of "do what we want because your friends' lives are in danger otherwise" it was less in your face about it. Plus the part about his identity being revealed was a constant sort of plot point that everyone waited with anticipation for at that time. Which the current arc somewhat lacks in a few ways; though the floor of death is bringing some of the feeling back.

Eh, I kind of doubt it really. I would say that Baam and Hwa Ryun have at least some basis since they do have some interesting moments together (mainly while he was still as Viole under FUG), and he did have that whole freak out at Reflejo over her.

So that's (just barely) a step above say Androssi where the romantic affection appears completely one sided.

With Elaine it could turn out that way, but I don't really see many reasons for her to return honestly. She seems to be going to climb the tower in her own way, though I suppose they could bump into each other later on.

While there is nothing outright romantic between them, like say Androssi's desire to date him. I do think they have a decent level of chemistry from the scenes we have of them alone together.

About Koon and Maria, all we know is that Koon even betrayed his sister so that Maria could become a Zahard princess, which is the reason why he has been expelled from the family. There were rumors about them and SIU drew them when they were about to go to a party. He was also quite worried when Androssi invited Baam to a date, thinking about Zahard's princess relationships, plus Baam noticed how troubled he became when he learned the news for Leesoo. It is very likely that he had a romantic relationship with Maria.

While they have done some pretty shitty things, not to mention using Baam's friends to force his hand, I honestly think they are just that desperate. They have all these Slayers who are supposedly strong enough to fight Zahard, and yet none of them can actually kill the guy.

With Baam going further and further up the Tower, and seeing all of the atrocities the 10 Families are up to. He begins seeing that maybe FUG isn't all that unjustified with their shit.

I mean, I feel like he is the type to beat the shit out of both the 10 Families and FUG when they piss him off too much with their behavior. But I do think there are enough friendly elements in FUG for him to lean more towards their direction.

It's because of the how the Webtoon system (Line korean webcomics) works. First you start as amateur, but if your comic is succesful then you can move to pro with a salary. It's litteraly the popularity that decides who become pro, and not a selection by an editor.

I read all of if once (when I caught up they had just arrived at the name hunt floor) and I didn't get the appeal. There was one good thing about it, and it was the whole "twist" with Rachel being a bitch, but beyond that it's Naruto in a "tower" (that's basically just an excuse to have a bunch of wildly different settings connected in some abstract way), with the usual "great lore" that's just the usual OH HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT CHINGSONGNOOP OF THE 2417TH FLOOR WHO DEFEATED THE KING WINGWONGWOP OF THE TAEKBANGLEESSANG CLAN over and over while the actual plot is the protagonist getting power ups and beating up even stronger dudes, now with even dumber names because Korean somehow manages to be a more fucked up language than jap.

There is a lot to say about ToG and I don't want to do this now, but just about this:

From the first chapter on, the plot is about a (more or less) secret organization manipulating the protagonist and hiding his true identity in order to make him kill the big boss of the Tower. And said protagonist chasing after a mysterious girl, while trying to escape from the organization without endangering his companions too much.
It's hardly similar to "defeat the next bad guy", even if there is a lot of fighting, because after all it's what this genre is about.

The whole 70 first chapters are a whole scheme just to make everyone think the MC is dead. Then the 100 chapters after that are about the MC breaking free from the organization and surviving a plot to kill him for good.

The names and the lore aren't thrown around aimlessly, many of the big guys have already been relevant to the plot.
Ha Jinsung is one of the strongest in the tower and is litteraly Baam's mentor. Repelista Jahad has helped Yuri to find Baam after he disappeared from the first floor, allowed her to kill the conductor of the train thanks to her Opera (a device that allows her to see and record almost everything in the Tower), and most important arranged Baam's meeting with Urek in Zygaena.
After meeting Baam, Urek, who is the strongest active person in the tower, has decided to save him and his companions at the Workshop Battle by sending Lero Ro and Quant.

The FUG higher-ups (Mircea Luslec being one of them) are directly implicated in the conflict between the slayer and slayers candidates (Karaka, Hoaqin and Baam). Jahad (the King of the tower) has sent an assassin against one of the MC companions in the first season. Some of the ennemies in Name Hunt station (the last arc) are directly associated with the princess Maria Jahad.
Also, Koon Maschenny Jahad, on of the strongest princess, and Po Bidau Gustang, the head of one of the 10 Great Families, have already been involved in the story.

Several characters have a direct history with one of the family head (Koon Aguero Agnis and Hoaqin with their respective father).

I tried reading Tower of God but the plot is more all over the place than One Piece so I got bored of it and dropped it.

Sure you were. The author never concealed the fact this is indeed shounen. Of course it would have some shounen battle elements in it. It sounds like you just assumed that the protagonist would get really strong quickly in our time. In the story's time, his growth is actually amazing. In ~10 years, he became stronger than even guys 1000's of years old.
