We've already had more than enough exposition on Agari though,at this point it's very predictable that we'll go into a final game and getting character development in a match that was decided long ago is exactly what was needed to have us care about the characters.

Very few shows will paint the opposition in a sympathetic light and ultimately while I'm rooting for Hokuto.We need to be reminded that both teams struggled to get where they're at and show us exactly who and what they're fighting for,even if it's only a practice match up between the schools,they're playing with their hearts and spirits,which is exactly what sportsmanship is all about.

It has more power, but is more prone to errors. The biggest problem in this match was that the opponent was targeting her backhand so she had to reposition for a forehand to try to get that power. Once she started using both she didn't have any weak spots to target as she can launch strong attacks from any position.

The actual match with Agari would never have been exciting based on two factors

(1)Limited run time,we're only getting 12 episodes this season and in an ideal world,it probably could've followed the dbz model where 1 episode has them matched as equals,2nd episode has them deliver backstory and character development/motives,and episode 3 would've been the deciding match and Agari's victory

(2) Given the brackets,and the predictability due to the length of the season (and manga),Agari's match was decided from the very beginning.If you were rooting for Agari,you were already going to get that victory no matter what.There is no surprise,no shocker,and instead of a bland and predictable victory,we got insight on the opposition and character growth.

There's only so much that any studio can do with 12 episodes,and I really enjoy the fact that in just 9 episodes we got insight on every team member.Their strengths,their weaknesses,their personalities.On top of that,they're shedding light on the other team also.

There is no villain here.There are only players with backstories,playing with everything that they've got.They're playing like proper athletes should be playing.

Agari vs. Zakuro was just a build up for our main protagonist and reaffirming her belief that she plays for fun,and to make sure that her opponents are having fun alongside her

And as for using scenes in the OP, I've seen it done very well but here it was just used for Agari getting out of her bitch phase. Technically that happened in chapter 1 of the manga, although to be fair the first chapter of the manga is ridiculously long. It wasn't THAT significant, I felt.

Anyway I'm not insulting it, I just think there's probably less money here than the studio wants.
