Personally, I think that Papika would be kind of strict with Yayaka-- always insisting she show spirit, have enthusiasm, and smile more. She'd be like she was when trying to get Yayaka to Flip Flap correctly, "I can't hear you!" Yayaka devolves into a bag of tch's-- at least until she learns how to push Papika's buttons. After that, Papika still thinks she's in charge, but Yayaka subtly leads her in the right direction from behind the scenes, making her think that it's all her own idea. She's still a bag of tch's though.

I can see her smiling from the sidelines while Papika receives praise for something she led her to do.

She's exceptionally glad when Papika someday learns to make good decisions on her own-- "Why are you smiling so wide Yayaka? Did you get an extra cream box?" "Aah! I mean... Tch... Mind your own business, OK?"

We saw this coming weeks ago. Bunch of ideas floated around, the ones I liked are:

Yayaka's name would be Pure Bind. She uses some kind of whip or other flexible weapon that entangles or hobbles enemies.

The base color of her costume would be black, with yellow highlights, and orange accents. Motifs of swallowtail butterfiles. Her left stocking has a gradient to white where the other flip flappers have a gradient to black.

Her hair color would be pale purple maybe, to contrast with the yellow of her costume (if it doesn't just stay yellow). Unlike the other flappers, I think it'd be neat if her hair got much shorter than her actual style-- not like a dyke cut, though, still cute and feminine.

So if Mimi is Cocona's mother then does that mean Papika is considerably older than Cocona?

This is not straying from the plot though, what are you smoking? Papika is the key to opening the portal, so they have to capture Papika.
The twins mentioned that they didn't care that Flip Flappers got the shard because they could just steal it later, meaning they're going to steal all the shards. Yayaka is in the perfect spot in that she could try to get her job back by joining Flip Flappers and doing it for them, but then create even more drama by becoming Cocona's partner in saving Papika and probably Mimi too.
The deeper levels of PI need to be addressed, actually making them hell-like like Cocona imagined would make good sense.
The three have already shown that they can sync together, so it's fair to say that Yayaka can sync with Cocona too. Of course a three-way sync battle versus whatever is creating the shards and trying to corrupt PI is the perfect ending battle, and one is almost guaranteed because this is an action series too.
At least defend yourself.

Way over half of your plot points are made up. When did anyone say that Papika is the key to opening a portal? They only called her half of the Direct Drive and neither you nor any other viewer knows what that is for sure. It could be a way to control PI, a way to draw power from it or it could just be the most efficient way to enter PI. And even then they'd still need the other half and who knows who that is, although the answer is most likely either Cocona or the new girl.

Making the deeper levels of PI like hell would absolutely not make sense. Pure Illusion reflects the collective human consciousness. Making the deepest layers of PI - the ones supposedly closest to the real world - full of demons and torture would imply that human nature is malicious at its very core.

So far there's been no hint at any force that's actively trying to corrupt PI either. It all points to a single event that created the shards at the same time which then spread out all over PI. Your guess for where the shards actually came from is as good as anyone's and just because there's nothing in the show that can disprove it yet, doesn't mean that that's evidence for it. The only time we see even a hint of that is when the KKK started chanting Asclepius, who may or may not just be a fiction of theirs and even then it's only come from people who have never been in PI themselves. Given that the shards are called "shards of Mimi" it probably has to do with that one flashback where a woman called Mimi got swallowed up by a bright light.

Also the premise that KKK needs every single shard to work is flawed. There are ample examples how KKK didn't care too much if they lose a few shards.

I can also have this theory that Papika is mind fucked by her shard/rejection from Cocona and somehow lost in PI so Cocona needs Yayaka to sync up for a rescue mission. Anyway the common theme is something bad that happens to Papika and Cocona/Yayaka teams up to help. Deep-PI and three-way henshin are nice to have, true.

I can answer for him, even if I don't agree with him. The most popular theory right now is that they took Cocona to implant a tracker in her, so the KKK could just follow the Flip Flappers to PI worlds with shards in them instead of blindly searching every possible world. They seem to be attracted to other shards or the other way around. How they knew about her and had that plan ready after less than a day is anyone's guess though.

The shards created the parakeets, that is confirmed. In episode 5 when the shard was removed, the clock tower fell apart (and it was the primary evil in that world.) The BDSM loli in episode 3 was run by a shard and wanted Cocona's. It is clear that they are malicious, and that thing is probably Asclepius and it probably took Mimi. Mimi might be the other half of the Direct Drive, and that is why she has such an odd connection with Papika.

The deeper levels of PI are the hidden parts that can bleed into reality, how doesn't it make sense that they're hellish and are what the KKK wants to control?

You're not wrong but this is not what the question is about. The question is why KKK didn't kidnap Papika when they got the chance but they would do it again.

This anime is a big mess. At this point, I think it's safe to say that Flip Flappers's thematic substance is ancillary to its desire for artistic playtime. There's a lot going on here, but the show is not particularly economical about integrating its ideas with its imagery. While I'm positive now that the show is exploring a budding romantic relationship between Cocona and Papika, with the emotions and fears that grow out of this change, I still don't actually know much about these two as characters beyond their symbology in a gorgeous yet simple tale of adolescent coming-of-age.

There was absolutely no reason to put the girls in swimsuits and shunt the camera up their butts and taints as often as this episode did. Despite the series' past flirtations with sexual imagery, this was the first episode that seemed 100% unnecessary in its treatment of the heroines' bodies. I can't recall a speck of fanservice that spoke to the growing bond between them, and it mostly just undercut their sweet and sincere commitment to protect Bu-chan's metropolis instead. Honestly, most of this episode was more frivolous and predictable than what I expect out of Flip Flappers, ultimately wasting too much time in a series approaching its final quarter.

You can consider this another facet of Cocona's confrontation with change from episode 6&7. She's now facing unavopidable change in the world around her that manifests in the way she fits into the environment, in the way she locates herself in the space around her and in how she finds her place in what was once familiar but now is changed. The emphasis on her body's dimensions, particularly her exaggerated butt and her size relative to the space around her, were physical representations of Cocona's conflicted feelings regarding the changes happening in her life (eg. iroha) and how she coped with them.

The characters never became "just" objects within their world. Pops, the one male character they interacted with a lot, never once disrespected them in the slightest. They weren't reduced to anything-- they just happened to be wearing sukumizu.

I think people trying to justify the fanservice through textual analysis like "its because its buu-chan" or "its about puberty" are missing the wood for the trees to be honest. The primary reason there was a lot of fanservice last episode was that the episode director likes fanservice. Those other reasons might play into it "making sense" sure but ultimately its there the same reason the robots from old shows are and in my opinion there is nothing wrong with that.

I don't care about fanservice at all unless it disrupts something else in the story (or if it happens to appeal to me, in which case it's good). I'm way too invested in the characters to want to look at them sexually, but it still doesn't bother me.

I know a guy who won't watch Jojo because he thinks it's gay. That's so fucking annoying. You can't turn your prudishness off even for something that (you say) doesn't appeal to you?

Someone once edited this comic once, except in the last panel it turns out it's a character from Jojo, and the guy thinks it looks really cool. I can't find it now but it was pretty perfect.

This is the only reason anyone should dislike fanservice, absolutely.

There's lots of times an anime was trying to tell a serious story or at least have a serious scene, but then they just completely ruin it with some awkward, terribly done fanservice.

Every single scene of fanservice in Flip Flappers fits the theme of that scene. It's not like they randomly stuck fanservice into Iro's backstory or something.
