Regalia never tried to be anything more than an standard super robot action show. Why that bothers you now, why you expected the show to suddenly try to be something else in the end or what you even expected from the end is beyond me
Don't misunderstand me. I would have liked at least some closure at the end and the plot could have been done better, but I came for cool 2D mech fights and cute girls with yuri subtext, and I got that all the way to the end, so I'm not that bothered that the plot and writing in general are utterly generic

We had that for the first 6 or so episodes, and it was great.

The later episodes were about some plot I really couldn't bring myself to care about, intermixed with boring, drawn out battles and a resolution that surprised no one.
