I was expecting a lot of things from Zero, but not the overwhelming need to hug Kurisu. Why is Zero so cruel? Who honestly looked at Steins;Gate and said that these people aren't suffering enough? Why can't I put it down regardless?

>Who honestly looked at Steins;Gate and said that these people aren't suffering enough?

Yo.
>>
>>150267037
As far as suffering that a real person could deal with, vanilla Okabe is already way up there and Kurisu has some pretty major baggage too. Zero Okabe is basically surviving on antidepressants and the need to not make Mayuri worry and even then he's a pitiful husk of a man.
Just how much more do you want these people to suffer for your amusement?
>>
>>150267455
Know when you throw a bottle on the ground and it shatters. You close your eyes and in that instant, behind your eyelids you can picture it, fragmented and hanging in the air in a million pieces? That will still not be enough.
>>
>>150267541
Have you played Zero yet? Okabe ends up in some pretty horiffic places.

You're the worst.

I saw the anime back when it was airing, but since it already adapted the true end (and I got spoiled on some VN things in the threads anyway), I never bothered playing the original VN. Picked it up recently at steam sale, but my friend gifted me the S;G0 VN.

Needles to say, I'm more tempted to play through 0 first since it's all new content, rather than sit through 50 hours of the original VN.

I will play the original S;G either way - can I play through 0 first, though? And then come back to the original after completing 1-2 endings of 0.
>>
>>150270221
If you feel like it. Though the anime adaptation wasn't 100% adherent to the original VN, you shouldn't be left in the dark on anything major like you would if you were skipping Steins;Gate entirely.
>>
>>150270221
Read through true end of the original up until the point that he fails for the first time, then read all of Zero, then go back and finish true end.
>>
Visual novels belong on /jp/.
>>
>>150270415
Thanks. I'm thinking of playing them back to back, something alone the lines of
>blind playthrough of 0
>getting 0 true end with some guide
>blind playthrough of the original
>other routes from 0 / original

I'm 1-2h hours into 0 and it's been fine so far, aside from my slight confusion over Moeka and why they didn't know each other with Okabe.

>>150271063
This is not a thread about S;G franchise, not the VN in particular. I just asked a VN related question, is all.
>>
>>150271124
>This is not a thread about S;G franchise
And I can't fucking type.
>>
>>150271063
Steins;Gate has an anime and several manga.

>>150271124
Good luck anon.
>>
>>150271021
That seems needlessly painful.
>>
>>150271439
Just like Okabe's struggle. It's authentic.
>>
>>150270221
0 is a bit weird with its endings. Basically, they build towards the conclusion, rather than being alternate conclusions. It's an interesting play on the time travel premise and worldline structure.
>>
>>150271439
Yeah but the payoff at the end is worth it
>>
>>150271526
I have yet to play 0, but since we already know (vaguely) how 0 ends from the original VN storyline, I guess they had to be more creative with the overall storyline of 0 and that includes being weird with its endings.

Or maybe I'm wrong and I'll want to slap myself in a week or two when I finish 0.
>>
>>150271794
It works when you go in blindly, but if anon in question already saw the anime, I doubt the payoff at the end will be as rewarding as it would be going in without any spoilers.
>>
>>150271525
But Okabe's struggle didn't feature that, just like it didn't any of the Okabes responsible for future developments in the other worldlines.

What really interests me about Zero is what it could mean for an actual sequel. Kurisu and Mayuri both living and her time travel paper being destroyed averts WW3 and renders SERN unable to cheat to world domination but the Amadeus research still exists, the dangerously brilliant mind of Kurisu is still in play and all sorts of things could happen. That's the brilliant part of a well thought out time travel narrative. You can use it to reveal things and play with them independently of what 'really' happens.
>>150271833
Really all that the original locks down is roughly how long it takes for Okabe to turn back to time travel as a tool and that at some point a video is sent to 2010. Believe me when I say that Zero will blindside you. I thought I was pretty deep in spoilers but it's got a lot of tricks up its sleeve.

Kill yourself.

>I thought I was pretty deep in spoilers but it's got a lot of tricks up its sleeve.
That's my main reason for wanting to play through 0 first. I pretty much avoided all spoilers (I only know whose daughter shows up from the future later on (and I'm not talking about Suzuha here) ), so 0's story should surprise me quite often, whereas playing through 0 fist basically boils down to "oh hey they didn't mention that in the anime huh. cool".

Even though I know I know it was coming, I still got quite emotional during the first Amadeus scene. I can't wait too see just much will the unavoidable despair later on make me suffer.
>>
>>150272572
>whereas playing through 0 fist
playing through original first*

Fuck me I can't write.
>>
I'm really enjoying the feeling it's conveying that something is wrong with the world. Life goes on, but even then it's apparent that you've gone down a dark path, and not just because you know that this is basically the bad end of the true end.

>>
>>150272751
>mad scientist's assistant
>following lab safety procedure
>>
>>150272982
No, she's just turning a microwave into a time machine and adapting her university-backed neural mapping project to work with some parts she bought in Akiba. Not careful precision work at all.
>>
>>150272751
>polyester tights
I get the hair and tie, but why are tights forbidden in laboratories?
>>
>>150273192
Too many boners.
>>
>>150273115
You mean expanding the functionality of a pre-existing time-machine with the help of another who is more technically inclined. Anyway, how could loose hair, an unclipped tie, pantyhose and eating in a separate area possibly interfere with that?

>>150273192
Nylon melts onto your skin if it gets hot enough.

>>150273317
This too. It's hard to get any work done if you want to jerk off.
>>
>>150272751
It's Kurisu trying to inject a little fashion and style into a school uniform and then chucking a lab coat over it. Zero has Amadeus dressing like an actual scientist because the model for it was made when she was working at the university's labs.
>>150273423
She literally built a fully functional version of her entire memory scanning equipment from locally sourced spare parts in a couple of days. She's a hardcore goddamn scientist.

I'm not denying that at all. I'm just saying that she didn't do it by herself, neither in the Future Gadget Laboratory nor back at Victor Chondria.
>>
>>150273317
No kidding. I'm hard from checking out Kurisu's legs right now.
