I want to eat Gook.
The performance is part of himself. He can't skate unless he feels it personally. That's why he had to get in touch with his sexuality to be able to skate eros in the first place. Siscon skates about how much he loves his sister. Georgi about how much he loves Anya. JJ about how much he loves himself. Yurio about how much he loves his grandfather.
Yuuri's Eros is about Victor.
It is directed at the judges. He's looking over his shoulder towards them as opposed to facing Viktor like in all of the other instances.
I really have to wonder if you watch the episodes sometimes or if you just look at screencaps. Victor said it countless times that Yuuri should seduce him during Eros because if he can do that, he'll seduce the audience. Whenever he's going to skate Eros, Yuuri becomes possessive to get in character. He even spoonfeeds this one more time this episode when he thinks to himself how embarrassed that makes him feel.
Eros is an act and not how Yuuri truly is. If you actually paid attention to how much Yuuri changes right before skating Eros you would have realized this already.
>he had to get in touch with his sexuality
You know what, never mind.
How is it possible to have such an obtuse, superficial reading of a work of fiction just for the sake of no homo-ing it? Do you seriously think Kubo means to separate Yuuri's skating and Yuuri's personality/relationship with Victor? They have been connected throughout the series, it's the way he develops and changes thanks to Victor and becoming a more sexually aware person is part of that.
>replying to bait
That's it. I'm leaving you shitposters in this thread and trying my chance in the other one.
>Eros is an act and not how Yuuri truly is.
Yeah, that's an asspull, because you'd have to argue the same for every skater.
It's established the skaters use the ice as an outlet to express their inner emotions most passionately.
For example, Georgi isn't seen acting that outrageous off the ice, but it doesn't make his anguish over Anya less real.
It's directed at Victor as part of the performance but the intention is to assert himself before the audience. He's skating on Russian turf so he doesn't want to feel intimidated, both him and Victor say this.
I'm not doing this again so you can stop baiting me or anyone else with your bullshit.
Ignore autistis who can't actually pay attention to what they're watching
The way Yuuri only changes that radically for Eros is not an asspull, pay attention. If you want to talk about how Yuuri really is then you should be talking about his free skate which is about his feelings and career.
Disregard bait, post handsomes
Will we get a homo scene in the airport? Like a hug or kiss? Please MAPPA.
>supporting forced drama
You should be ashamed of yourself.
Really? We at least now know how shitty he is with handling other people's emotions which seems to suggest he's not actually been that emotionally intimate with someone else before.
He's a lonely person if the lyrics of Stay Close to Me are anything to go by and the dog he's been close most of his life is in danger, we'll probably see him cry.
I could guess all these things from the first episode. I honestly don't feel like I learned anything new about him in 8 episodes. Except maybe that the balding is real and he's self conscious about it.
Yuuri cuttting him off whenever he's about to talk about himself doesn't help either.
Do you need to be spoonfed every little bit of info? We don't know his backstory or the crux of his motivations, but we know plenty about him. Like the obvious, explicitly stated stuff (wanting to surprise people, not knowing how to comfort Yuuri, being forgetful, etc), things that are heavily implied (that he's lonely and in need of love, that he's uncertain about his future, etc) and things we can just observe (he's sincerely invested in and happy about Yuuri's success, he isn't egotistical and taking the credit for it, etc).
He doesn't change for Eros. He's showing a different side of himself. That was exactly what Victor told him to do to discover what is for YUURI Eros.
All the skating performances are about showing sides of yourselves retard. If it was just an act then Yurio wouldn't be pissed with himself for failing to convey Agape.
>Georgi's birthday is a day after Victor's
>because he's always second to Victor
Why does this show bully Georgi so much?
Everyone has personality traits. Knowing someones doesn't mean you know them. The only things we "know" about him are vague and hint at things that could be something or could be nothing.
The only things we know for sure about Victor is that he's selfish and forgetful as those are things that people who have known him for years and he himself confirm. We still don't know exactly why or if there is a special reason for any of that either. Everything else is up in the air.
Most normie girls don't get out of a relationship unless they have a foot on another. Georgi got cucked, probably that post-sex pic she uploaded on Instagram was taken before dumping him.
We could make it exist. We should, because that's exactly what that is.
You said we know as much about him as we did in episode one, and that's just not true. You said yourself we know his personality traits and we also know more about his motivations unless you're not paying attention at all. Remember everyone thought he was evil and manipulative? Can anyone say that after we got his inner monologues during Yuuri's performances?
Stop ignoring characterization just because it isn't part of his tragic backstory, you're clearly missing plenty of it.
>mfw I used to think people exaggerated about Yuzu and Javier.
Georgi will win when he marries Mila, adopts Fairy, and bust the kneecaps of Anya, Mila's ex and their significant others. Anya totally played herself by losing best boy.
So who will be the Miki Ando
Too late for that. Pic related is what Putin wakes up to every morning to motivate himself to a long day of work.
>Putin got dibs on virginal long-haired Victor
I hope he was gentle, at least
I wasn't that anon, and no all we know is that he was confirmed torn about his career from Fairy in epiosde 2 and have had nothing much since then aside from the aging complex that goes inline with that.
Victor caring about Yuuri's performances doesn't have to mean anything besides he wants to fuck him and he makes him look good as his coach. Come back when he shows genuine concern over someone that isn't his prized pig.
>Victor is selfish
>yet he was willing to stay with Yuuri despite wanting to go to see his dog
I don't think he's selfish. I think people didn't get him because he's kind of autistic.
This show is totally straight. Why do you disgusting fujoshits always have to see homo in everything?
did l do a good hetfag impression?
>tfw Victor probably comes from a broken home with a drunkard dad and a whore mom and had to please old men to get a meal some days
>V-Viktor?! I thought you were a virgin down there
He didn't even seem that concerned about his dog for one and secondly ofcourse he wants to stay with Yuuri he flew to Japan to coach him for some reason though we still don't know his exact motivations for that either.
He's not autistic, he's a very social person and as we can see, probably always has been. Not giving a fuck about someone else's feelings isn't the same as not knowing them. He knew Yuuri was upset, that proves he's not an autist. Not knowing exactly why just shows he's not a mind reader.
These threads just ain't the same without hetfag.
Surprised he was willing to be photographed with creatures that indulge in homosexual behaviour
It's not a fun place to live if you don't love Putin. Most of them do, though. I'm sure that has nothing to do with the shirtless propaganda/cross-stitching kits of him
Would explain the russian flag
I pause without meaning to, holy shit
I really hope he doesn't have a sad backstory at all and is just going through a mid-life crisis. All of his fangirls and their cringey theories of him being a poor abused baby are cancer.
This is the forced drama we need
Aw man they couldn't even spring for a cake with both their names on it. Even my shitty retail job could do that.
I thought that they were going to slit Mila's ex's throat.
Wait until she has her first kid, gains weight, and it too old to skate anymore. her then husband will grow tired of her horse teeth and Wet n Wild lipstick and will find a mistress. Then Georgi will be the one to win. Georgi is loyal and just ready to give his lover his whole heart and soul no matter what.
i want to fuckin HUG the gook
i really have no idea
You are a retard if you think Putin gives a shit in good or bad about homos. It was not him who pushed for that retarded law. There are people in Russia that would make him appear more liberal than Justin Trudeau; believe me.
And anyway, Victor is an amazingly talented athlete making Russia proud. No one will care if he likes to get his ass rammed by cocks every night.
All that says is all of his past relationships were shallow and he's a slut and thus he thinks everything can be solved with a kiss. That's not austistic, autists wouldn't even know that a kiss is a positive thing that could make people feel better. They wouldn't' even get that far.
>he didn't even seem that concerned about his dog for on
He's flying all the way to Japan. Of course he is fucking concerned. He wasn't freaking out like a teenage girl in front of Yuuri because he kept it together and was acting like an adult. But he was putting his promise above his feelings.
And no, his behavior when people get angry/upset is off, he's not very emotionally tuned with people.
>Why don't I try breaking him.
>Oh, shit. I broke him.
We're only halfway through the series and don't know every detail about every character yet. That doesn't mean you can actively choose to disregard the characterization we have so far just because it hasn't been backed up with whatever backstory you think would validate it.
I don't know what I expect from the sort of person who takes clear visual and narrative evidence that genuinely cares for Yuuri to mean he wants to fuck him and look good as a coach anyway. Understanding something that has been shown rather than told seems beyond you.
He wouldn't be going to Japan unless his precious pig told him to.
>acting like an adult
If he's not emotionally intune with people it's because he doesn't care to be. He's had plenty of chances and if you seriously think this show is going to outright say "Victor has austim guisee" as a legitimate part of his character then you're retarded.
Thai can't save anything. Only I, Puru-sama, can!
At least post the purusama copypasta, man
>He didn't even seem that concerned about his dog
Just because he wasn't crying or losing it it doesn't mean he wasn't worried. He was obviously distressed when he was rubbing his forehead but he also had an obligation to keep. When he saw Yakov he saw a way out of it and he took it. If he didn't care all that much he wouldn't even bother going back to Japan.
He's extroverted and likes to socialize at first glance but as we saw with Yuuri he's not used to dealing with normal people at all. He's a celebrity so he's probably used to being surrounded by people wanting to talk about him or doing whatever he pleases. He's pretty autistic when he's required to socialize on a more mortal human level.
>end of his career
>literally had two programs ready for his season and Yakov was working with him and wants him back
You're not paying attention, are you? I think he just went to seek Yuuri because he was looking to surprise people.
Like she passed away when he was already an adult and he's ok with it. But when she was alive they were close. Maybe she's the one who got him into skating. His dad was around just busy with working but not too distant or abusive at all; just busy.
>don't know every detail
All people are saying is that we don't know much at all about him still. Chill.
>actively choose to disregard
No one's doing this, just because you created a headcanon sobstoy for him to explain his behaviour doesn't mean the show has and if they have, we haven't seen it yet.
>whatever backstory you think would validate it
That's usually how these things go. We have a characters backstory to learn about them or learn about them along the way which we haven't got much of either with Victor yet.
>I'm a pretentious faggot let me insult you with my run-on sentences
>not paying attention are you?
Are you? He was confirmed torn about his career and "if you don't have inspiration, you're as good as dead" was stated. Not to mention Yakov saying he might not be able to come back if he takes a year off. Yuuri seems to be his last ditch effort to keep his career going if that's even what he's trying to do.
You can only destroy threads, Puru sama.
Did you even read this comment thread? The first comment I replied to said, literally, we don't know more about him than we did in the first episode. And I have been disparaging about his 'headcanon sobstory' this entire time, because it's obvious so many retards won't consider him at all developed until he has a tragic backstory. I would be happy if he never got one.
Not being hetero adds at least one layer of difficulty on your life.
I think it's cute. He knew he couldn't let Yuri the way he was and he had no ideas how to trigger a positive response from him except for this but he regrets doing it instantly the moment he sees Yuuri crying.
and whatever you're arguing, all I'm saying is that we don't know much about him at this point. Having a few things after episode one (who would have thought?) still isn't much considering how little it still tells us about him.
Makkachin's bun choking was a suicide attempt. He will be hospitalised again within the month. Cap this
I think people often mistake characterization with development here. You don't need a sob backstory to be a good character, you need decent presentation of the personality and how said character reacts to events around him. You can have good characters without sob backstories, if they changed and reacted differently with the events around them then he has a bunch of layers.
Example would be series like Jojo where you can have plenty good characters but all of them have some sad backstory. Araki thinks this is the only way you can flash a character completely
kudos to the anon last thread that made actual katsudon pierozski
>you need decent presentation of the personality and how said character reacts to events around him
Too bad Victor is still mostly a huge fucking question mark unless he's literally just a selfish forgetful person and that's the depth of his character. I wouldn't be against that, it's realistic for someone as famous and praised as he is. I don't like the idea of a sob backstory but a little exposition of why he is the way he is in clear manner would be nice. It doesn't even have to be anything deep.
You're misunderstanding. I'm pretty sure no one wants or cares about a sob backstory, this is about not having a backstory at all. Yuuri has a backstory and it's not a sad one for example.
Araki isn't that bad, at least he's creative. Oda is the worst offender by far, every fucking character needs their assigned generic sobstory because why put thought and effort into characterization when you can just use a cheap, emotionally manipulative alternative?
Holy shit. You faggots actually made history/katsudon and i missed it.
Every fucking adult has had something sad happen to them in their past. If a character has any backstory at all, part of it will be bad, and the bad stuff is more likely to come up/be relevant.
I have hope that all these question marks will be resolved (at least to some extent) next episode.
I love Jojo but I can always tell when a character is going to die because Araki infodumps a backstory just before.
At least seinen jojo is a bit more subtle, but holy shit the first parts.
>It doesn't even have to be anything deep
This. I know Yuuri is the main but Viktor gets as much screentime as he does, he's also the love interest, and yet we know jack shit about him compared to Yuuri.
He knows that soon is the "Time to get another Maccachin!" He wants to go on his own terms.
Thank, anon. This is so cute. Are there other Russian nicknames Victor'd call Yuuri?
Huh? He does change himself for eros because literally only acts that way when he has to perform it. He's not possessive or seductive any other time, in fact he finds it embarrassing. He only has those kinds of thoughts before and during that.
I hope you all have set your wallpaper to the official YOI celebration image for Yuuri's birthday.
How will you celebrate piggy's birthday?
I'm going to
eat a katsudon.
I think Victor is starting to react differently with things around him, but most of his basic info is missing sadly. With those pieces you could make more sense of his character a whole.
Next episode is focusing on the Yuris, but maybe Yakov can actually talk about him.
Who is everyone? You would think he would get first or something since it's in Russia his hometurf, but I'm not sure myself. JJ might get first, but who knows about the two Yuris.
I'm assuming it would be just to make the dough (http://natashaskitchen.com/2010/07/24/basic-russian-vareniki-or-pilmeni-dough-russian-pierogi/), fried onions, breaded pork cutlet, rice and egg and wrap it in the dough and fry.
I'm going to give this a go next week, will post results.
I'll probably spend it trying to navigate the hellscape that is twitter image searching, looking for all of the cute birthday art.
He might, it would make sense. Yuuri's next 'challenge' in plot terms is to manage without Victor, not to win, whereas Yurio needs to establish himself as a real threat because he hasn't been doing as well as Yuuri so far.
I think the name suggests both of the Yuris are the true MCs of this series, Victor is mostly used as a foil especially for Yuuri. Grandpa and maybe Yuuri to some extent are also there to help fleshing Fairy out, next episode will truly confirm this.
>tfw gook steals Yuuris gold and becomes the most hated ice skater (as if he wasnt already)
>tfw he will be to fans of this anime what piggu is to ice skating fans on the show for stealing victor
>some people believe that this is a story about him exploring his sexuality
Almost all of his skating is him exploring his sexuality, anon
Lurking for fanfiction, aren't you, fellow fujo? Солнышко (solnyshko, little sun, sunshine) would go nicely, rest are usually too cringey and look out of place.
>tfw yuuri is younger than you
not as old as bald though, life could be worse.
To an extent that's true. He's learning to come out of his shell and be more unapologetic in his desires. The story of Eros itself has nothing to do with Yuuri, but the theme of sexual love isn't an accident here.
Try it anyway, anon! I'm sure Yuuri would be happy and appreciate the effort!
I think this is basically his only chance to do so. If Yuuri consistently and effortlessly outperforms Fairy, what's the point of marketing him as the rival character?
He looks troubled in the preview, I hope he doesn't fuck up.
Are you kidding? The entire series revolves around Yuuri learning about love through skating, he even publicly announces it. Eros is a type of love, which he is figuratively exploring through the performances. That doesn't mean it's a 'manifestation' of his desires and he's not literally exploring his sexuality, but the implication is obvious and right in your face.
and failjust like katsuki yuri!
Otabek seems more of a threat to everyone and JJ to Yurio. The GPF is already obvious to all of us, if anything they might make Phichit the true dark horse because these hints are there.
You think it's.... not? I mean, it's made blatantly obvious at the start that Yuuri finds sexuality difficult to comprehend, to the point that he has to imagine he's a fucking katsudon. The entire routine is him gradually coming to understand sexuality because of Victor.
>I hope he doesn't fuck up
Is it because JJ came behind him abruptly?
To me he looks winded or tired there, like he's been saying during his Agape performances. I think he's really struggling to keep up with programs that are presumably a lot more advanced than what he was working with in the junior circuit.
It'd honestly be nice if Phichit won, with Yuuri in second and Yurio in third. If one of the Yuris won it could hurt their relationship, but if a third party won, it'd neutralize their competitiveness and soften the blow of losing. Everyone likes Phichit so nobody would resent him for it either.
Me too, I'd bread him hard until he squeals.
Are they? To me it looks like they like to hype Yuri vs Yuri because they're names are the same and they had to fight for their coach, not because they're actual rivals. I agree that Thai is more of a rival to Yuuri and JJ is more of a rival to Yurio.
I know it seems far fetched but I see:
And poor Fairy will suffer but it might help him grow. Like you said, too many good skaters and there's also the theory that Yuuri could choke for his development.
Mirin? The recipe I used didn't mention that. Only soy sauce and sugar. Oh well, I'll try looking for some too. It tastes like heaven even without it though.
>how to bread the pork
I use the so called english technique. Three plates, one for floor, one for egg, one for bread. Dip the pork in flour all over first, then egg, then bread. Depending on your taste you can dip it in egg then bread a second time. It might break when you cook the pork if it's too thick though.
Just remember to cook it slowly in a lot of butter/oil.
Yurio is more in a genius level than Yuuri ever could wish to be, he has the chance of becoming the next Victor because he's young and really good. Yuuri is a pro skater but even with full development regarding his anxiety he's 23. Yurio has more seasons ahead of him and he himself knows he lacks experience, meanwhile Yuuri has experience but isn't labelled as genius.
I'm just curious, anon-san. I haven't searched for ff yet, I'm satisfied with BaldFat. I think Russians have a peculiar way with nicknames/names in general (I never know who's who when reading Russian Literature), so that's why I asked.
Right? And though I think Yuuri and Yurio must both make it to the final, I don't actually think either of them need to place. Yurio is only 15, and Yuuri's story is more about his personal growth and self esteem issues than winning. It might end up sucking, but I feel like jt could turn out to be a 'the real gold medal is the eros and agape we found along the way' type thing.
If it tastes good without mirin then I might do it. Breading sounds easy when you explain it like that but I think the dish is greasy enough so maybe I'll just add normal pork and enjoy a half-assed katsudon since it's the thought what matters.
If we don't get some personal back story this week with Victor, I don't think we will get anything. Honestly, all I need to be filled in when it comes to gaps is him to officially say why he chose Yuri and what his post-season plan is.
He's been set up as an important character but I think it would be pretty underwhelming to give someone new and unknown a medal. I think it would be better if he absolutely trashed them in the SP but something happens during the FS to stop him placing. By 'something' I mean some sort of plot device, like a catalyst for the Yuris development or some drama that ties the story together or whatever. I don't really have anything specific in mind, just something to make his role significant in a way other than being a competitor.
Will Makkachin die?
Where did this "Yurio is a genius and Yuuri isn't" thing came from? Minako? We all know the characters' points of view can't be trusted and how lightly they take Yuuri. He was scouted when he was a child by the JSF and is the very best skater in Japan at the present, this is actually pretty fucking impressive. This means he has always been talented. He just choked easily and almost wasted his entire career because of it.
He will die and give birth to new generation of bunkind.
>i'll just add normal pork
Why would abuse katsudon like that
And I just explained it to you too
>pretty underwhelming to give someone new and unknown a medal
He's a dark horse, no one expects him to win or get too far, even in terms of the plot of the anime. It happens in real life, sometimes the most acclaimed skaters can't make it and others do, but I don't think anyone will win just because the others got hurt or failed, even though it can also happen. I think they're setting up to even beat JJ, but I could be wrong.
Yes, he will die, and Victor will cry 'cause Makkachin were his only family.
Yuzuru Hanyu qualified for the Grand Prix Final.
Will Yuuri do the same?
I think I will fuck up anyway and it's also a lot of extra fat I can leave out.
Yeah, I don't entirely buy that explanation, though I see the appeal. All Victor needs is inspiration, not a rival. I'd like to see the series end with him and Yuuri skating together, either in private or an exhibition type thing. I don't think he needs Yuuri as a rival, but as someone he lives who inspires him.
Trust me, anon, do the breading. It's simple and adds a whole new layer to the dish. I think you'll regret it if you don't.
From Another bad Katsudon chef.
It means he still fucked up slightly (I think he fell for one of his jumps) making this a not yet perfect performance. This is the same guy who said he wasn't happy with his performance after getting gold at the Olympics. He is fucking hard on himself all the time.
Yeah I don't think Vicor needs a rival ether, since Yuri isn't really good enough. I mean he's just as good as Chris and JJ and the others whom all barely reach Victor's level.
Victor was never looking for a rival, all he wanted was to find love in skating again. (And in return, Yuri found new love in skating too)
Yuuri's strength lies in stamina and too much time on his hands. Yuuri had to ask Yurio to teach him that salchow. So yeah, I'd say Yurio is more of a prodigy considering he's so young.
Okay, you convinced me. I'll do my best for Piggy's day!
I have no idea what you are talking about.
Fuck, that was beautiful. Even that fall, he managed to come right out of it.
I really can' wait to see what he does at the GPF.
If I can thanks YOI for anything, it's for giving me an appreciation for figure skating.
You are a fucking retard. Kid came directly from the Junior World Championships where he won the gold into the Senior GP circuit and is ranking 2nd/3rd. It's fucking insane. Unless we are shown Yuuri at that age ranking as high as that level, it's clear who is the genius, who is the hard worker.
He's the best skater in Japan but his career is pretty underwhelming and he's constantly choking. Wasting your time like that is basically fucking up with not many chances of recovery. Yurio might have around 11-12 years to make history, while Yuuri has 5 with luck.
Glad I could help! Now go and make piggy proud!
I don't know about dick but he has a butt I would love to motorboat.
What does that have to do with Yuuri not being a genius? He is one, he just couldn't take the opportunities given to him because he gives in to anxiety too easily. Yurio obviously has a more promising career ahead of him, no one is arguing that.
Javier is Spanish. Spaniards are oozing with courage and confidence. They can seduce anyone with anything. It's their talent.
I think that's the best theory for what Victor is doing that I've seen yet. He went and started to coach Yuuri to help himself fall in love with skating again. It just so happens that he not only fell in love with the sport again but also with Yuuri. So with that being said I'm OK with Victor going back to skating again or choosing to focus on coaching only, either way he's found his love of skating again, you know?
His smiles really are the cutest.
Why can't he be real?
I think yuuri's speech here means he will win GPF
Get in line
Don't ever take your eyes off me while I bread this pork, anon.
No really, thanks, I had no idea it was that simple.
>he doesn't know about the anus/self doubt kanji
Lurk more, if anything this is foreshadowing his loss as well as the inevitable fate of being the main attraction of an olympic village gangbang.
You can always watch ice dancing if you prefer complex choreographies. Personally jumps are a big part of why I love figure skating and was a fan of Plushenko at a time where few managed the quad. A great skater is capable of doing both.
Fairy isn't ranked yet, but he is doing extremely well to get 2nd in a GP event. That's rare.
Yuzu's husbando has a word with you. Javier has been keeping it close and has beaten Yuzu at Worlds for the last 2 years now. Victor is straight up otherworldly.
Yet he wanted more. I hope he can score better in GPF.
You're gonna do great, anon! Be sure to post the final result!
I'll be watching.
