The VN is about Shirou pursuing his dream to become a superhero.

In Fate route he embraces his dream no matter the cost.

In Unlimited Blade Works he accepts reality and his dreams do not mesh but still continues to pursue it, making compromises along the way.

In Heaven's Feel, he abandons his dream as the weight of reality is just too much.

Honestly, I really enjoyed it. The VN is written well. There are faults though. There are choices but you can't actually do anything Shirou wouldn't or you die in amusing ways. There are three path but you have to play Fate, UBW and the HF in that order. There are sex scenes but they are awful.

All in all good read but very long.
