While comfy as fuck, is not a good material to start with. It becomes really difficult to fix your mistakes, or even notice when you screw up.
That looks like it was done in circular (unless it was just rolled up); were you using multiple needles or flexible ones? Flexible ones are much better for beginners IMO, particularly if you aren't doing something super small.
