Original Nanoha was a decent, though not completely amazing or revolutionary magical girl anime for its time period. But if it wasn't for how good A's was the franchise would have died off and nobody would give a fuck about it anymore.

Like original Nanoha, Vivid Strike is also alright, not great but a completely terrible show either. It's decent.

We haven't seen much from Fuuka yet, just training and fast-forward KO fight. So we don't really have much of an idea. The announcer called her possible new star, so maybe it'll turn out she is strong. They better show it in some fight before she is let to go against Rinne, though, else it will look bad.

Having a fight with Einhart wouldn't be bad actually, although I didn't think she advanced that far in the spider.

But that's actually only becase there are only "who" opponets left, fighting Einhart doesn't actually have much sense, Fuuka doesn'T even have that much reasons to want to win as she had when there was a chance to fight Rinne.

If they have her fight a new/who character, they will have to spend time and effort to show that character is strong, which is a wasted effort kinda. If they wanted that, they had to tease her a bit before.

We've discussed this before. The probable situation is that Tsuzuki was really burned from the kneejerk reaction to Force.

To the point where he has no real confidence in doing anything resembling the older series since Force was his supposed callback or link to days of old. It didn't turn out that way but Tsuzuki thought so. Pretty much my belief is that Nanoha's own fans dug themselves into their own graves as much as Tsuzuki did himself.

Vivid Strike is more or less just them testing the waters. They obviously didn't want to take any large risks so they ran with Vivid settings.

To me the strength of Nanoha was in the fights. The original series had too much pointless slice of life that didn't really characterize neither Nanoha nor Fate that much, not to mention her friends. It's not bad, but not great.

The problem with it is that it has the same problem ViviD has: It's revolving around a tournament arc, and those are usually used for filler in other shows.

So it has long, drawn-out training sequences between exposition. All of which have the personality of a brick.

It even dropped the Belkan subplots so we don't even get magic history lessons.

Better than ViviD, but yeah, that's about all I can say.

They had the greatest opportunity to expose the dark underbelly of Mid Childa, the one that is veiled by all the TSAB propaganda, with its underground cage fights, syndicalism and organized crime.

I would have loved if Fuuka had to fight her way to the top in brutal illegal cage fights so she could face her friend in order to save her, that would at least be somewhat interesting.
