Read the Railgun manga, it's a joke because Saten got so close to her she somehow became really focused on her despite meeting only 2-3 times and only communicating through text, and later, her nonchalant attitude where she meets Uiharu again, even disappointed that it's not the girl friend she was expecting, all the while UIharu has a cast on her arm. Also, earlier where Uiharu's "no nonsense" explanation on Saten living in a safehouse for a while.

LNs don't bother with Saten and Uiharu, for now, but sometime cameos them as the grand plot affects their lives. However, they do appear in the Railgun manga, and are sometimes pivotal, even meeting the big players like Touma. I would consider them one of those characters like in the Sopranos where they aren't gangsters or cops, but we still get to see their lives because other characters care about them. It's a story-telling method that let's the author explore how the setting works to more down-to-earth characters in contrast to the fantastic lives of Misaka and Touma, and I'm biased at this, but I am quite fond how a sprawling setting and world can be explored beyond the main characters.

Gremlin only got it's member base due to the fallout of Crowley shoving that treaty in that noone wanted and fucking over any magician who used even kindergarten level science.
The only problem that can't really be traced back to him off of the top of my head is Volume one.

I don't understand the obsession with characters needing to learn about magic. The first volume makes it plain that this is a very bad thing. Touma made an explicit promise to Etzali that Mikoto should not be exposed to that world, so why would Etzali go out of his way to drag her into it?

Regardless, Mikoto is a resourceful girl and will figure this shit out on her own terms. Some people learn better through application rather than explanation. It's already been established that fucking around with magic messes with the established parameters of an esper's personal reality and produces unpredictable results, so it's really the only avenue where she could receive a legit power up. Absolutely wrong. Accelerator doesn't control just velocity. Accelerator controls vectors period, and vectors can be arbitrarily defined. Without definition he still obseletes Misaka who controls only electricity, since you can express electric and magnetic fields as vectors and E&M is pretty much just Vector Calculation (and PDEs).

This is more or less what Level 6 Accelerator WOULD have been. A way for me to explain this is that even level 5's have limits. Mikoto is an electromaster but there's also lower level "electromasters".

Accelerator's ability to control vectors is still limited by being a level 5, even more after being shot. If he had gotten those white wings without being shot, he'd be level 6 basically. At that point he should be able to control all vectors, but he's still limited as a level 5. He is powerful but I view it as an extremely successful min/max off of an already strong base which is a different scale than guy that makes whatever he wants. For all the fancy talk about his ability it's easily explained as "mere" TK utilized very powerfully.

Same for Touma's plotarmor. Reading NT17 while having his plotarmor in mind, some stuff really does fall into his hands. Not only the fights like

Shouldn't Kakine technically be able to beat Touma in a fight? IB is hax, but if he can replace any type of matter, couldn't he just fundamentally change IB itself? Or would it be unaffected by dark matter in general and dispel it as soon as the DM touches it?

Pretty sure he'd do the same thing Rensa did if he tried to copy IB in any way. WR is one thing, since it doesn't destroy everything supernatural on contact, but IB would just kill him/the clone he attached it to. That's also assuming that Touma's recovery method doesn't work for some reason.

There can only be one IB in existence at a time. So it will be a wrestling match over it. If he can't take it, he'll have to think of something else or get punched. If he does take it, he has different problems to worry about now. In summary, it's possible in theory, but just not a good idea in practice.

It's hard to say anything definitive since this series is almost entirely made out of glass canons that can be defeated by any character actually stopping to think. That's how Kamisato pulls off his bullshit and he merely uses the first idea he thinks up.

Hang on there, I've not read NT17 yet so I might be jumping the gun, but based on what is DM outside the scope of esper powers/magic? Sure, it makes no scientific sense, but every esper that can actually do anything violates a conservation principle or two on a daily basis. Othinus was practically omnipotent, because she could do anything within the system of magic that she operated in. That's why she couldn't save herself or fuck with IB. As for Kakine, is there any evidence that all the non-existent matter stuff isn't just in terms of modern science? Because it almost certainly still falls under IB's purview.

I'd bet on Kakine if he fought Touma, but I assume Kamachi would have IB fuck with his network in some way like Takitsubo did.
