It's pretty otaku pandering but it was pre SAO so I guess it gets a pass.
The plot runs off two more or less carboard cut outs Moeka and Mayuri, causality is ignored so that fate can kill Mayuri over and over again but the show is apparently a sci-fi.
Okabe gusses it's because he used the time machine to change the future but when Kirisu dies he uses the time machine anyway to fix it like it's suddenly okay, sure he's uncertain of that future but he knows she's supposed to die.
