I dunno. It generally seems more like the writer of the OVA version is generally more interested in building his world than telling an actual story.

So there will probably be a fair amount of harem hijinks but it's more likely to be more exposition about gods, Jurai and more absurd proper nouns that just raise more questions than they answer.

That's the problem here. He does nothing with the main cast and just delegates them to that house. Most of the fun stuff came from them leaving to deal with whoever was fucking with them at the time.

See the thing with OVA 4 and even OVA 3 is that they where both 10 and 20 years too late respectively.

We waited decades for more content to push the story forward and instead we get info dumps and blue balls.

Tokemi finally acted personally and the series was mostly still farting around. Washu finally ascended to god form and instead of being amazed it somehow managed to be boring.

I have no idea what the fuck the deal with Misaki was and frankly I don't care. They brought the Kagato issue up again just to go nowhere with it and let's introduce a new fiancé to Tenchi for no reason than because. Im not even gonna complain about them refusing to bring Kiyione over because even if they dead it would probably suck.

Does he even have a real plot outline in mind? The setting is certainly interesting but something needs to happen.

After this business of Rea and Nobuyuki getting married, it starts to shift towards Tenchi actually deciding to go through with his own marriage. That's as far as I got with it. We'll have to see if everything goes through or just winds up another dead end.

A lot of this was the reason why Isekai was so good.

It had the Tenchi mythology, but it had nothing to do with any of the characters and shit actually happened. The story had a narrative arc and characters got to do cool things instead of sit in a house.

This was one idea. The other had something to do with Tokimi orchestrating her kidnap due to viewing Mihoshi's overwhelming luck as something that could be her end-game product. After intense experimentation she was eventually written off as defunct then giving back to her homstead and thus Mihoshi became more of an aberration of luck instead of whatever Judge Dredd tier bad-ass she was before.

Her and Seina are one in the same.

You're spot on about those follows though. Wanderers was okay as an alternate Universe esque TV series. Did some fun things with the characters but it was really hard to get into Alternative world when we already know how Makoto makes his way back to Tokyo to be with Ifurita Especially when they tried introducing the new girl into the harem like it mattered at that point.

I never really cared for the TV series. Ifurita was cute, but I liked the prettier design that wasn't lesbian princess/Makoto in drag. Honestly that series is meant for people who wanted something more light-hearted and I didn't really care for that as I had enough light-hearted with western cartoons.
