Why have you not joined the Intel Kaby Lake HEVC Main10 hardware decoding master race, /a/?
Don't let your HEVC Main10 Chinese cartoons run like a slideshow
I understand only 45% of that post
Video playback confuses the fuck out of me, there is so much shit you have to understand. I can't even get MadVR and xyfilters working properly. I have an I5 6500 Skylake and use onboard graphics, that's about the limit of my technical knowledge.
Maybe one day I will devote a few weeks of time to actually learning all this arcane shit. maybe I will buy a graphics card.

Jesus christ dude you can get killer cards for like $190-220 these days. Don't do that to yourself.
If you're really poorfag get a 1050ti

I'm pretty poorfag, there's loads of shit I need to buy before I leave my job and take a wage cut for a while. I don't play games but if it helps my animu I guess it's on the list.

Good thinking. Needs before greed.
Why would anyone except an extreme poorfag use Intel graphics?

In five years all video will be in AV1/Opus anyways.
I thought it would be a good idea to upgrade my GPU or CPU for one that has HEVC decoding but then after testing files I found out x265 only uses slightlly more CPU compared to x264 using Copy-Back.
In my tests using HEVC files I found in Nyaa it was around 5% to 15% more CPU usage on my 4690K, thats virtually nothing.
GPU remains unaffected and madvr madshi just release his new image doubling algorithm NGU too.
Not many reasons to upgrade as of right now.

you might as well have posted a potato
HEVC is pointless unless you're encoding from source. Most people just re-encode scene releases. Disgusting.
