Even if it would be for arcade play only (no story/backstory etc.) then you still need to build the character image, animations, movesets (normal attacks, skills, NPs) and other not so easy to do tasks.

The whole thing with BB's and Alter Egos in Foxtail is such a clusterfuck that I just treat them as each different character. They have their own body after all.

I saw the extella display in akihabara the other day and came very close to buying a copy. I already have the NA edition on preorder though, but it looked so tempting in the store.

I think pretty much at any point, she usually loses in 2 to 3 hits (at least against other servants). I remember the first 2 ranking battles being pretty brutal actually. If anything, it became easier later on when you had the ressources to use your skills, because you can stunlock your opponent, maybe you die more quickly, but you barely give them a chance to move at all thanks to stunlock, so instead of dealing with 3 unknowns, you deal with maybe 1. Doesn't really matter if they can kill you in 2 hits if they only get 1 move.

But it's been a while since I played it. All I remember is that Tamamo seemed to be pretty much the way the game is meant to be experienced, because the whole story kind of loses its effect if you play an invincible tank machine who is never in any danger of losing.

Maybe it's reversed and Saber actually becomes difficult later on, I grew bored on my 2nd playthrough at around week 4.

Yes, Caster is really powerful at the later stages than the beginning, but did you try to take down Lu Bu on target level?
That was quite the challenge trust me.
You've got perfect fight and suddenly you make one fatal mistake where he does kill you in one shot.
Hell, you couldn't even block his NP or else you would be kill. Aphotic cave was your only saving throw.
I think that I restarted this fight over 10 times.

Hmm, good question, I don't remember if I still overlevelled by that point, maybe I was, but I do remember that there was an enemy whose NP kills me without cave. Are you able to avoid his NP if you stun him on the move before that? If so, with the 3 randomly revealed moves per turn, there should have a roughly 80% chance of knowing either where the NP is, or knowing the skill before NP and stun him.

So while luck dependant, that part is definitely in your favour. But the rest of the fight could be a lot more difficult on target level. I do remember that fights became A LOT faster once I had my own NP, which greatly reduced the impact of rng.
