Time for more literary moe.

I hated reading GE in tenth grade.
>>149967770
I only read it after watching some WMTs as an adult and I loved it.
how faithful is this manga?
>>149967814
It's pretty faithful so far.
...Oh my God
>twintail
It's just like my Japanese cartoons.
This is really neat; thanks for sharing.

Dickens was ahead of his time.

This kid meets the most wonderful people.

It's amazing how this works. Like the education system works to make us hate books.
(Incoming Blog)
I was recommended to read it in sixth grade by my English tutor because I was and am a nerd that loves reading. I loved the book and it remains one of my favorites.
Was forced to read it again in high school. Thought it would be a cinch, but instead, we got shitloads of tedious, useless busy work with annotations and literary analysis projects with no relevance. I developed a revulsion for reading that year and didn't start reading again until senior year.
And here we have my waifu, Biddy.
Shame they cut out a little comedic moment when she's trying to discipline the kids of the class.
>>149968282
Dickens would laugh if he saw his book used like that.
Never have read Great Expectations before, but I honestly kind of want to now. Thanks for sharing, OP
I've never read great expectations so this should be interesting
also >>149968639
he doesn't look european in the slightest, elevens still making protags look like massive faggots.
>>149968798
Don't think the one making this is Japanese.
As a fan of smug animu girls I think I like Estelle's attitude more than I should.
>>149968830
Yeah, it's one of those sestern works that tries to piggyback on manga appeal.
Trying to coopt my weebishness, huh. And here I thought I was reading some odd double translation. I am somewhat disappoint.
>Pip goes from rags to riches and back again
>Pip becomes an asshole
>Orlick did it
>The convict dies
>Pip gets cucked
They shorten the Pip-Biddy dialogue here. I like it better where Pip outright says to Biddy that he wishes he had fallen in love with her instead of Estella.
Why no more posting?

Except it's doing a very shitty job at capturing the atmosphere and texture of the actual novel. Everything looks too clean and bright, too spacious and everyone seems too well-mannered.
>>149968072
What the fuck is she looking down upon? CLEAN plain clothes and a pair of very clean workboots?
And this fucking shit just killed me.
>>149969921
I think this should be obvious. She's looking down on him for being a peasant, despite cleaning up to a presentable level. Just because he looks relatively fine doesn't mean he's on an equal class as her. Plus, kids can be assholes to people they don't like, and their reasoning for not liking someone doesn't always make sense.

True.
>What the fuck is she looking down upon? CLEAN plain clothes and a pair of very clean workboots?
Yeah, they should be dirty.

Taking a food break.
>>149970098
I know perfectly fine why she's looking down on him.
I'm talking about the artist's ability to express the novel's atmosphere, and particularly, the contempt and awkwardness in that specific scene. All I'm saying is a lazy rendition.
At that time Pip is an abused peasant living in a blacksmith shop, and those are pretty clean well-fitting clothes for such a poor kid, not a thread out of place, no grit on him. He probably had to walk for miles through a marsh land to get to the mansion and his boots are almost pristine.
I mean, I haven't seen those pages yet, but I bet Pip's London quarters will look like fucking Switzerland compared to the novel.
>>149970540
I-is Pip going to end up daijobu by the end of this novel?
>>149970840
Yeah, you could say that, but it's quite the trip.
If the title didn't give it away by now ('Great expectations') it's a coming of age novel.
>Pip doesn't comment how London is overrated
>>149970597
Yep
>>149970526
Fair point. Anime/Manga-style illustrations don't really suit a story that features poverty as one of its main themes. It's kinda important to depict how low down and dirty life is for the protag, and this style of art isn't nearly realistic enough to do the story setting justice. Maybe it's just the artist, but face it, as much as we all love anime, it leans towards the bottom end of the totem pole in terms of art given how many details are skimmed over.
That's not a joke, either. I distinctly remember college applications explicitly forbidding anything anime-related to be submitted as part of an artistic profile. The traditional art community sort of despises anime as an art form.
>>149970597
Oh, nevermind.
>>149971370
I prefer a blend between the two, sorta like WMT.
Too classical Western and I can't fap to it. Too animu and it just feels light and cheap.
This two is so gay in the novel.
Estella looks like those tsundere LN heroines only she's 99% tsun.
>>149968976
Nice headtilt.
>>149972163
This is too heart-wrenching for me.I might try to buy the original book later after you finished dumping it OP. Never really tried reading these kinds of books because it's not compulsory read for seaniggers like me
