But yes, they shafted Ranta hard. Him going First Blood during his escape was one of the highlights of the LN and it deserved an episode of its own.

They did cut quite a few things but I don't think S2 would be a problem either, they'd have to spend the first episode going back and bringing up various points they skipped, like the orc invasion and Souma's speech.
And it got rough towards the end, hell, final episode was just unfinished. Though funny enough, I liked how it looked unfinished.
