The only way it could be better would be if they had adapted the rest of the manga. Casca's VA in the dub didn't do a great job, but the show and manga are GOAT.

Wyald is great, but the sudden and jarring eclipse just overwelming the Hawks is a lot more impactful than them just kinda quickly coming to grips with all the kooky supernatural shit right beforehand.

Animation is lacking but everything else is phenomenal. It works as both a good self-contained story and as a great introduction to Berserk.

That being said, i will never stop recommending new watchers to skip the first episode. The whole in media res thing works in the manga because we get a whole arc before going into the Golden Age, but in the anime it serves no purpose to have that shit at the beginning, especially when it's filled with misinformation (Griffith already being king and the forging of the Dragonslayer).
