Mimi is a person. Salt has some relationship to Mimi and to Papika, though Papika evidently doesn't remember. The shards are deeply related to Mimi, but it's not clear how or why.

The KKK almost has all the shards they need to instigate their plan, so the breakdown is imminent. We also leanred this episode that Yayaka is with the KKK of her own accords, to the point where them threatening to fire her is enough to compel her obedience. She's clearly not being forced, blackmailed or threatened to do their bidding. The twins are also special, and very likely instrumental to the KKK's ability to find and enter PI.

I saw an interesting post in a previous thread about the various Papikas and how they represented different aspects of Papika was perceived by Cocona, and I felt like building upon it a bit.

Imouto = A reflection of Papika's childish nature and how she follows Cocona around, calling her name at all times. She also reflects Papika's ability as a good cook.
Dude = Papika's independent nature, getting Cocona to skip class/making her do things she usually wouldn't. There's also a strong/manly appeal to this.
Drills = Papika's spoiled side, making Cocona express herself by doing activities without much care for the end result.
Weirdo = Papika's habit of doing unusual things. The side of Papika that Cocona finds a bit creepy.
Ahegao = Papika's lack of normal social skills.
Delinquent: Papika's brashness and recklessness.
Devil/temptress: Rather than being an aspect of Papika, I saw this as Cocona's own subconscious, the side of her that makes her question the nature of her feelings toward Papika, and perhaps a bit of carnal desire.

The motif in this episode was change in people. When people change, it doesn't necessarily mean they've changed entirely, but just that one or a few aspects of them have changed.
However, in this episode, Cocona rejected each aspect of Papika, in favour of the full package.

Now, sure, people aren't just one aspect, but an agglutination of many different aspects, which is what forms a personality.

The irony in all of this is that, even though Cocona doesn't like change, she still rejected all individual parts of Papika - i.e. all the parts that make up Papika as she knows her.

Building up on the previous episode, we can tell every aspect of a person is built upon experiences, for example, Irodori's idea of being unable of using nail polish, for some reason likely linked to the old lady, but when Cocona and Papika changed her memories(?), that aspect of her changed, making the whole package is different now, despite changing only 1 aspect.

The family is Salt, Mimi, Cocona and baby Papika. Mimi was dragged by PI alongside Papika. Cocona doesn't remember or got fake memories, while Salt continued studying PI and capturing fragments do bring Mimi back. Grandmother knows everything. Papika grew up inside PI, and is actually younger than she appears. Salt got her back, but she doesn't remember much, after all she was a baby when it happened.

KKK discovered PI around the same time and is collecting fragments to create an ultra deep layer and influence reality with it.

PI is a parallel dimension of sorts, without known methods of easy interaction but it's doable with mental affinity. Cocona and Papika can wander there because of their relation to Mimi, which is part of PI for now. KKK twins were Mimi v2 but strong enough to come back. Yayaka is a coincidence.
