Miyazaki is one of the most acclaimed directors in the world right now.

Why doesn't he just say "I'm an old man and I'll be taking longer breaks from making movies as time goes on" instead of constantly doing the retirement drama? It's not like he needs money or anything, he can afford to take 4-5 year breaks between movies.
