They're applying Fusion dance rules to Vegetto.
To be honest, Vegitto being a permanent fusion was kind of shit anyway. This retcon/explantion is better for the character anyway.

It was a good answer to do what they did with Vegito to fused Zamasu. The problem with his introduction was when they had him for the first time during the Cell saga, he basically had a 30 minute long episode about him warming up and in this episode he was instantly ready to go.

His power is absurd though - there's no way that Toriyama could have let Vegito stay around for as long as he did, considering as how he's many factors more powerful than the most powerful beings in the universe, second only to Zeno. He singlehandedly destroyed fused Zamasu without any struggle at all. Again, as in the Cell saga, he's stupidly cocky and overzealous which is why it takes so long, but he makes up for it in raw power and speed unlike Gotenks.

Plus it wasn't his fight to win, like someone in another thread said. It's Trunks' universe, Goku and Vegeta are dead in his timeline, he fucked it up and it was his place to fix it.

Future Zamasu was greatly weaker than Goku or Vegeta. He only managed to do something because he's immortal and was strong enough to do some damage to them.

Also small differences could make big differences in the fusion, since it doesn't simply add the power levels.
If Goku is a 100 and Vegeta is 110 (because of time chamber), then Vegito is a 11000.
If Black is a 105 and Zamasu is a 60, then Zama2 is 6300.

But ofc THAT is not the problem with last episode. Vegito was dominating the battle, as it should be. They didn't screw up at this part.

I'm inclined to disagree with you. Vegito has always been in this series, for many decades, the pinnacle of true power. Before him it was SSJ Goku, and after that it was SSJ2 Gohan. Once Vegito was created, no character could ever again hold a candle to the amount of power he can generate.

Anyways, they have different purposes in the series. I imagine Whis was designed to be gauge of ultimate power in the world of Dragon Ball, until Zeno was revealed. I almost guarantee Whis and Zeno both will never be in an actual fight, due to them being ultimate beings, they're going to be more like Beerus killing Zamasu with his hand after he tries to kill Gowasu, just an instant-erase ability if they were to do anything malevolent.

In the event that they did fight, because of the character background that's already there, Vegito would win solely because that's what he's designed to do. There is simply no character in the universe that could ever keep up with or fight evenly with him, for the time that the Vegito form exists.

Of course, that's not saying he would win the fight, because he'll embarrass the enemy beyond belief, and split up like he always does, leaving someone else to clean up what's left.
