The "fusion dance" fusion always ran on a time limit. It was only the Potara fusion that was supposed to be permanent.

Gotenks's fusion ended naturally when he was absorbed by Buu because the time ran out after he was absorbed. Whatever magic bullshit inside of Buu that broke the Potara fusion may not work on a simple fusion dance.
