I've been going through the 6k / 10k optimized deck, but it has been throwing kanji and vocabs with shit I've never seen before.

Dumb example, but bear with me, it's the only one I remember at the moment.
行く
Before I even go through 行. I understand that it may be because 行く is more widely used, but it just feels off to get right into it without exploring the kanji on its own first.

Am I being retarded and it's just a mindset? Am I supposed to roll with it and grind that shit like that?
>>
I started studying on an app that spilts kanji into JLPT. I've got N5 pretty down pat I think. Should I focus on N4 now or keep studying N5 at the same time? Any point where I should try to read something like a raw manga chapter or something?

If you check the kanji components, does it always divide it in the least possible parts rather than its smallest parts?
Does it show kanji that have 泉 never with 白+水 for example?

If it's doing more than nominalizing the verb then I don't know. I was sure that was it.

What is it then?
>>
>>149745438

泉 isn't a radical so you would have to search with 白+水. You can break the radicals down as far as you want (within reason, don't go trying to break stuff down to 一,|,丶,ノ, even though it will work in some cases) and the search will still sometimes work. Like if a Kanji contains 魚 you can break it down to 田 + 灬 and Jisho will find any Kanji containing 魚.

but here something happens to 僕らがこれから行く

compare to something like これから行くのが楽しみに

another example include comparing

釣りに行くのも楽しみに and 釣りに行くのが楽しみに

so why one over the other well believe it or not you said no context needed but there actually is

well not so much that its needed to understand because the context is already created if you understand the の to its deepest depths

DJT,I‘ve seen the effort you put into your studies and am here to offer you a lifetime chance.

You will be granted a one-year visa into great Nippon, no obligations attached (observed the National laws).

But you must choose 1 (one) anon who has already posted in this thread (before this announcement) to be your roommate.

After the end of this one year period, two scenarios may happen:

- If either of you don‘t become fluent, both will be deported.
- If both of you become fluent, the best one out of the two will get a visa extension, the other one will be deported.

Deportation is permanent and you will never be able to visit Nippon again.

So, who do you choose?

can anyone share me their study plan for the day? I'm having trouble focusing on mine. At one particular day, I might study grammar a lot that I don't have energy to do anki and any other else. This kind of inconsistency makes it hard for me to form habits. Any recommendation, anonたち?

Not really a recommendation, but when I was learning french I'd put my iPod on shuffle, and it would alternate between music and French lessons; that way it wasn't so boring.

You can also download some Radio Bangumis from voice actors from animes you like. You can find them on Youtube. It's very fast-paced. Might as well slow it down on some audio program first.

China has no good writing aside from the classical chinese works. The problem is that chinese is a very blunt language, there's no real way to express yourself without saying i this, i that. The classical chinese works are quite different in structure to modern chinese.

English is the lingua franca, Japanese is for all the weeb shit we like.

Then Russian is very useful for piracy purposes and other non-abiding stuff, if you're into that.

Arabic and Chinese are also good assets to your toolbelt - there is a whole Internet parallel universe once you understand these languages, unavailable to foreigners.

Spanish (and/or Portuguese) would be next level, especially Spanish for the piracy. Although it's mostly stuff reposted from China, USA and Russia, their community is important due sheer numbers.

Then comes languages with online presence, but not so much to offer - Korean*, Polish, Tagalo, Malay, Thai, Indonesian, Hindi.

There are also shrinking languages that still hold some minor relevance due past cultural achievements, like German, Italian, French.

I guess that's about it. Did I forget anybody?

*Korean is arguably "as useful as Japanese", but that only applies to teenager girls who like k-pop and doramas. Both South Korea and China are eager to steal Japan's throne in the entertainment industry, so keep an eye open for these languages.

How do you think the first kanji you learn and how you write them represent you? Do they tell a story about you? Is the calligraphy just as revealing in japanese as it is in english? These are all neat questions I haven't seen anyone asking thus far. I see kanji as a form of expressing oneself, therefore a form of art. Is that true by your standars? Pic related, the kanji I learnt so far during my a month and a half of studying japanese.

5 pages an hour sounds about right for the more text intense pages.
>>
>>149769770
The fastest way to learning Japanese is via osmosis.
You fill up a computer screen with Japanese text, play someone speaking Japanese very loudly, and press your face against the computer screen. The Japanese will naturally move to an area with no Japanese to balance things out, and that area is your brain.
>>
>>149769830
Actively trying to interpret the text is not the same as staring at words. It's actually how you figure the language out regardless of what path you take. It's only a matter of how soon you do it.

Sure, if you're too dumb to figure things out without having first seen every single possible combination of words on example sentences be my guest and keep pushing the real deal forward until you feel confident enough, but if you want to use your brain and actually get good fast I suggest you start reading more as soon as you're good enough to figure out basic sentence structure.

Still early in my learning, but is it safe to assume that any time I see つ preceding a consonant sound, it always serves to repeat that sound? It's hard sometimes to tell if it's smaller than the rest of the characters.

For instance, when making verbs past tense or negative past tense, the かつた or つた are pronounced katta and *ta, right?
