I'm not necessarily upset that they're adapting GitS to live action. I'm upset at HOW they're adapting it. You know what? Scratch that. Anymore, I'm just deeply disappointed.

This is why I don't pay for movies before streaming the Chinese/Russian cam rips online. Hollywood struggles to produce not-shit. And at $9 for a matinee showing, it's just not worth the money or effort to go see if the product I'm buying is not-shit. I don't wanna waste eighty minutes AND a game rental's worth or more just to go WOW LOOK IT'S FUCKING NOTHING.

Ok, here's the deal: it's not that they don't look nice. It's that they don't really jive with the whole "built-up cyberpunk concrete jungle" feeling, at least to me. It has to straddle the line between "average modern city" and "near-future dystopia" without going overboard on either fromt in order to feel genuine, which the studios have neither the time, budget, nor care to pull off.
