Look at it this way: so far there were shown several people who can avoid death one way or another, and in the novels, several more were actively trying to do it.

Here's a list with users who bear different consequences for their different methods of preserving a pattern known as them.

Subaru - endless loops of terror and suffering with the ability to redo future. I guess he will die once his time has come naturally.
Satella - sealed away in a shrine, unable to die, but somewhat still able to manifest in the real world.
Felix - dude with a healing water magic so potent, he can even animate the dead, including himself.
Reinhard - his blessing of eternal fuck you grants him a wish every time he needs it. Yep, blessing of Phoenix because why the fuck not?.
Echidna - had been put in stasis\undead condition by Volcanica as a failsafe against Envy, can interfere with the real world, created hosts for herself to fill in but failed to use themyet.
WholeWitchingWagon - collected as wraiths by DonaDona, whole band of witches seems to have their personas and powers still intact and functioning in her dream world.
Aldebaran - a pecular one, instead of looping BACK in time to redo his way around a lethal obstacle, he seems to be hoopping FORWARDS to skip the killing attack completely.
Regulus - another time shenanigans user, as long as his throbbing veiny meat is inside some poor gal he can fuck you all over.
Pandora - the ability to twist and rewrite any real fact in a way that suits you seems bullshit enough, surely she can just keep herself forever-young and undig her own grave?

There are several things we know about mana \ od. First is like a free energy which can be inhaled \ exhaled through the gate. The amount of second is decided at birth, and slowly vanishes until there is nothing left, BLAM, natural death. Mana is not homogeneous and is split in six subcategories, two of them are pretty rare. Correct me if i misremember, but they are water \ ground \ wind \ fire (ice as in absence of fire), yin (buffs), yang (debuffs). You weave spells by manipulating those elements, the harder the spell, the more complex the structure. You can actually invent new spells as long as you are proficient in combining shit.

Important thing: spirits have od themselves, but their consciousness is kept active by mana, and they are able to weave spells themselves. Spirit user is like a person who uses automation to do their will instead of manual labor. Except, the automation have its own consciousness.

The feelings Rem had towards Emilia were complex because of her origins. It wasn’t related to Roswaal.

She does feel bad for thinking like that, due to understanding she had a past that made Emilia a "child that couldn’t admit her own feelings, Emilia’s stubbornness was beyond help in every way"

Roswaal told then to threat her as a higher position than himself too.

I think it's hinted to have actually started back at the mansion. The lines about his heart going into a panic as she snuggled against him, and being distracted from his conversation with Emilia, are probably supposed to imply that. There's actually a few times where he gets distracted by Rem. There's also that one line in Arc 3 where Subaru thinks about just how much he misses Rem, when she was just out shopping in the city for a few hours.

Thinking about it, why does Subaru even find Rem's presence so comforting at this point? This was before many of her big moments.

That just determines what he translates. Even SPfag translated certain Rem scenes like her death feigning faithfully. Usually you just don't translate other optional scenes that your bias dislikes and pretend they don't exist until some other TLfag gets to it. If you're worried about the bit with Emilia in that segment you'll notice Rem was being described as unreasonable and she disgusted herself for thinking that. The manga version has a similar moment where she admits she's unreasonably jealous when Subaru interacts with others in the mansion. The consistency in most adaptions being that she mulls over something in her jealousy and realizes she's the one at fault.

Well just read his translation for chapters 1,2 and 4 of arc 6 that he did. He skipped 3 because he did 4 first, due to a Rem scene, but you can see that he translated nicely.

He is currently taking a small break on full translations of chapters due to doing it for months now, and he said he basically would feel it would turn into a chore so he's only focusing on what he enjoys doing.

I imagine that if Arc 6 starts to get updated again, or he takes a long enough break he may get back at it.

This is the primary reason. They didn't want to commit to a season 2, and I'm sure they knew from experience there would be butthurt resulting from "I Love Emilia" moment. Giving Remfags even more screentime after that only to end it with Emilia getting the confession at the end would've just pissed people off.

I have a prediction though, assuming season 2 will be made I'm sure they'll capitalize on Rem after starting off with her fight with Gluttony and the having flashbacks to the cut scenes of the LN to reinforce their relationship while Subaru finds out about her coma. I'm fairly sure Rem composes a good part of merchandising sales and they'll want to milk her for all her good scenes to begin with so they keep ride that momentum and make a profit.

I think one blunder Tappei, though I feel he did want us to fall for Rem, made with how Emilia was seen during the early arcs was her lack of involvement in events past arc 1 and a lap pillow. One thing he could have done was include Emilia in the climax of arc 2. Though going by the way it ended she would have been a third wheel and the way it went was otherwise very solid. However, it wouldn't have hurt to write it in such a way that she could contribute. Especially since she was going to fall out of focus in the next arc it would've been nice to see her do stuff one last time.

Too much is set in motion for her not to wake up, she's also not the only character who needs a cure. It would be a waste of an arc to not progress that subplot. In a way from zero happened exactly as it should, but they really amplified Subaru's assholeness during the emilia part. Twin empathy is already an explicit thing in arc 6 because they're bringing Rem along to the tower and it's part of why Ram, despite having no memories of her, cares more for Rem than she lets on. She gets snappy at Subaru for thinking he's the only to care about her because of this and he gets snappy at her for thinking she would know how Rem would think or feel about something despite having no memories. Most theories came about because the arc pretty much reminded everyone it existed.
