>How much time did you waste not learning Japanese?
Wish I didn't spend ~2 years playing almost nothing but World of Tanks while neglecting learning Japanese. I've come to the conclusion that online games, especially MMOs and any games that require tedious hundreds of hours of grinding are complete shit and a huge obstacle to learning and achieving things that actually feel rewarding, thus must be avoided at all costs.

I lost my urge to play games entirely when I started learning Japanese, just feels so much more rewarding using your time on that compared to wasting it away on games, unless they're Japanese games of course

I wish I could bring myself to anki instead of just reading all day and searching for unknown words which are then easily forgotten.

Starting to read was my worst mistake. Now I just procrastinate all day instead of really studying.

Getting addicted to one of these games was the best time I ever had, but at the same time it made me into a social outcast that's never been at parties and can hardly interact with people.
Still, I wish I could get addicted to them once again. It's a great feeling.

Months are a fraction of a year. We write the individual digits in numbers with the most significant digits on the left. Therefore, years must be on the left side of months, because years are the container unit in which months are counted, and the left side is bigger.

That isn't an unrelated page. Here, I'll show you the image with the hyperlink which lead to that page.

You don't seem to understand how wikipedia works. The relation between two topics has nothing to do with the relation between two pages. Two pages need to be under the same editors or projects to be related pages.
>>
>>149561094
>Two pages need to be under the same editors or projects to be related pages.
The pages are related in terms of one page is referring to the other page for the data source.
>>
>>149561150
No, actually, that's not how wikipedia works. Wikipedia pages are strictly forbidden from referencing other pages as a data source.
>>
>>149561159
>Wikipedia pages are strictly forbidden from referencing other pages as a data source.
I feel you are being purposefully obtuse here. The map data comes from the related linked page, which you can read to see where they referenced their information from. If you want to know who is responsible for those pages, check to see who edited them.
That is the answer. If you have no further questions for the sake of the thread topic this will be my last post on the subject.

Which I did, and they didn't, apparently.
>If you want to know who is responsible for those pages, check to see who edited them.
I didn't ask that, someone else did.
>That is the answer.
Linking an unrelated page to "who made this map" is not an answer to "who made this map".
>If you have no further questions for the sake of the thread topic this will be my last post on the subject.

You can still do that on your computer. Pic related, although it makes rikai turn sideways as well, which is kind of retarded.
What you can do is change those epub files to zip files (merely by changing the extension name), extract the files to their own folder and within that folder will be the following folders:
>META-INF
>OPS
>mimetype
Within the OPS are the following files:
>css
>xhtml
>package.opf
>toc.ncx
Within the xhtml folder is the content:
>0001.xhtml
>nav.xhtml
>title.xhtml
Open these up in your browser and it will display like pic related. You will have to change the xhtml extension to plain old html (change the name, same as before) in order for Rikaisama to work.

You can change the layout, etc. with the CSS file/s found in the css folder.

Took a few screenshots.
Top is the page and you can see the scroll bar. I just scrolled through all of it and it appears to load the entire book on the one page, which would be the reason for the lag. Don't know why it has to load everything at once.
Also, when I long pressed on one of the definitions from the popup dictionary a prompt came up saying that the card had been added to Ankidroid. The fuck, I didn't make a deck for the program? The bottom two images are the card which was automatically added to a deck the program created on the stop.
Kind of impressive and neat for mining. Looks like it grabs the sentence the word came in. It also has a built in text to speech but only seems to do English.

If you started out with Core 6k, then drop it and get an Anki deck for your grammar resource instead. Learning random words that you won't be seeing in whatever textbook you're using is just a waste of time and needlessly stress inducing for a beginner. Any resource will likely have more than a 1000 new words, so it will last you for at least a month.

If you haven't adapted to rote memorization by the end of that period, individual kanji study would be the only solution. Or the retard proof WK deck.

I don't understand this usage of とする, I saw it before. Is it like exaggerated, poetic?
>触れるものを萎れせながら

>それは、衰弱の手を伸ばそうとする。
どういう意味ですか?
>>
>>149569322
>師と仰ぐ

「と」は略せないよ、同じ意味なら

I downloaded this from the CoR but it seems to have errors or something, I'm guessing MEGA fucks up with bigger downloads (it was 1.7GB)?
>>
>>149570346
Might just have to do with the length of the file names.

I do think mega had issues if the file size was larger than the RAM your computer had, but I don't think that should be an issue with 1.8GB.
>>
>>149570389
Yeah 8GB RAM here. I'd redownload in smaller parts but MEGA seems to be awfully slow today
>>
>>149570462
I'd still try renaming the "Nyaa 青空文庫 azw3 Kindle ebooks" to something like "a" and unzipping in your root directory though. Making sure it's not a file length issue is a lot easier than redownloading the entire thing.
>>
>>149570346

Sorry, I don't really understand. I got the impression that the が introduced the subject 使い手 but what does the では tell here I have no clue.
>>
>>149580540
LNs, I can understand. They keep using different copy protection shit, and it's a lot of work if you can't get past that for not much payoff.

With TV, it's literally 2 minutes of work cutting out the ads, and half the raw providers don't even do that. Bonus points for all the episodes of shit uploaded missing the first 2 minutes because they ignored the bit tacked onto the end of the previous program.

What's worse, the on-demand shit in Japan is fucking garbage, with nothing staying up more than 2 weeks, and an awful selection of channels and content. For the few shows that show up there, at least you get a nice HD video, but good luck watching anything from a month ago.

Okay, at your level, view では as something that, in addition to what it literally means, totally cuts what comes before and after it apart. Some things will still reach "outside" では, but in this sentence, you want to see:

>使い手が軟弱では 私達の敵ではない

rather than

>使い手が 軟弱では私達の敵ではない

So, "If/because the user is weak, they're not our enemy."
>>

>They keep using different copy protection shit, and it's a lot of work if you can't get past that for not much payoff.
They're pretty much all on amazon available for Kindle (at least anything that isn't ancient) and getting past that protection is piss easy. Yet freaking OreGairu out of all things, probably the single most selling modern LN, is neither in the CoR or nyaa available as azw... Kino and Zaregoto only have a single volume, Sukasuka isn't available at all etc. Japan is truly behind in this, I can find random ass Western books the day they're released on nearly all trackers.
>>
>>149580738

>>
>>149580912
I see, but why did you translate it as conditional/reason? I understand では as a combination of the で particle (with, by means of) and the topic は particle.
>>
>>149581213
think less in particles and what the words themselves actually say when you say them
>>
>>149581213
It's more like "so" or "supposing" than what I translated it as, like "The user is weak, so they're not our enemy" or "Supposing the user is weak, they're not our enemy".

The reason is because, for some reason, で is interpreted as the て form of だ*, and the は at the end of it prevents it from acting as a case particle, so it acts as a conjunction instead. You can also see that in それで, だけで, etc, without the は.

* で is the て form of に (it comes from にて), and you have to understand the historical relationship between に, な, なる, and ある to understand what's really going on here, etymologically speaking.
>>
>>149580294
>>149580733
No clue what's going on in that chuuni comic but
>"The user is weak and not our enemy"
Close, but this interpretation is ignoring the は in では and the actual meaning is more like
>"A weak user is not our emeny"
with the nuance that weakness leads to a conclusion that they are not enemies.

Listen to this guy >>149580912
also I would add that you can compare this usage of では to ~ては on verbs, where it emphasizes the completion of one action leading into the beginning of another. In this case there's no real "action" going on, but you can think of the the action of "being weak" as the verb here, sort of. 軟弱であっては・・・ would have a similar meaning.

I was fooled by リリカ, legit didn't see it coming. I could tell something was off about her, but I just figured she was an uggo with super caked on makeup.

I love these satellite shows about performers and shit, even if I'm not that into the porn itself the culture surrounding it is pretty fascinating.

In what way is しまう used here? As far as I can tell nothing is done unintentionally or is being finished. Or is it implying that you could accidentally change the world?

I believe it's something to the effect of there's a possibility the world may be COMPLETELY changed.

Hey! You seem to have made a mistake here. This is /a/ - Anime & Manga. As you can see, this board is not about VNs, so I think you will be able to get your problem solved more quickly if you go to /jp/ or /vg/. Glad I could help! :)

I'm a bit confused about たる. When you hover over it with rikai, it shows two entries. One for 足る: to be sufficient, to be worthy of and one for たる in just plain hiragana: (those) who are, (that) which is etc. Are these in any way linked or completely separate?
Also if it's noun+たる+noun it's always the second one, right?

Is the VN in fullscreen or windowed? Is the CD still mounted? Have you tried restarting your computer? If it worked before, can you think of anything that changed in-between then and now? Can you post a screenshot of what it looks like when you open it?

Uploading stuff as azw3 for Japanese media is essentially unheard of.
Those that want that buy it themselves while the rest are perfectly content with using physical scans.
In Japan dead tree is still incredibly popular and used book stores are everywhere, so you can almost always find dirt cheap books of what you are after.

>Those that want that buy it themselves
Well yeah, but out of all those people who do at least one must've thought of uploading it. I just find it a little bizarre because this isn't even niche stuff, nor does it take much effort. Like, someone here could go buy the first volume of Oregairu or whatever, upload it and be the first one to do it. When compared to over here, you see hundreds of people upload the same thing on release day.
I guess the Kindle hasn't taken off as much there and people rather read on their phones/read physicals right now... I wonder if it's gonna be any different 5-10 years from now on
>>
>>149584399
I think it's a slow sell because of how crowded people are, and thus how common used books are. If you told me that a product I could buy for 300 yen, use, then sell back to get back 150 yen could be bought "digitally" for 500 yen PLUS the cost of a gizmo to put it on, I'd call you a fucking retard.

The people who buy kindles aren't readers, they're people who want to be readers.

Windowed and it won't turn full screen. When I close out of it the prompt for closing is still there, but that's the only thing that works. When I ctrl shift esc leyline is still in the windows task manager so I have to end the task before opening up the window again. There is nothing I can think of that would have changed, except for this computer isn't very good in the first place. (It has problems even with playing something like Youtube live stream at 720p.)

This is what it looks like
>>

just update some drivers, do a restart
>>
>>149584399
>Well yeah, but out of all those people who do at least one must've thought of uploading it.
Why would they? Take the CoR, for instance. See all of those dead links- why haven't the people who downloaded that content uploaded it for others yet? Because they see no demand or reason. Similar case with Japanese and accessing drm free digital literature within Japan: they see no real demand for it. It isn't like manga or any other illustration based literature; all they need is text and they're perfectly happy with cheap books and scans of books. Hell, free web novels are incredibly popular, which shows how little the Japanese demand of format and accessibility.

>I just find it a little bizarre because this isn't even niche stuff, nor does it take much effort
To the Japanese in Japan, their langauge consumption is within Japan only, unlike English which has an international demand.

Not nonsense at all. Trump pulls American troops out of Japan, Chinese move in and bomb the place to bare rock now that it's vulnerable, Japanese becomes dead language and you all wound up wasting your fucking time. Not such a hard future to imagine.

>>
>>149585473

It's a bargaining technique, ya dolt. You have to make your counterpart believe that you are willing to pull out or else they have no reason to meet your demands.
>>
>>149585473
Japan is allowed to rebuild its military in full force, eventually US Troops are pulled out. In between, Chinese don't imagine touching Japan out of fear of Trump's wrath.

This is how the foreign policy operated for a long time before weak Barack Obama took office.
