why? I don't understand why people are so worked up with it being SHAFT. In fact it's apparent that only those who've read muh manga are dissing the show for not adhering to the original material. sure, isn't the ""style"" in itself in service of the content? e.g Koudo's profile shot in ep 5 where he's shown watching the other attendees is something that you'd expect from shaft, sure, it's stylish as fuck and could've worked discreetly but I think Shaft still did a great job at conveying Koudo's menace toward the other mourners

The issue is a lot of the time it isn't, like characters are having a normal conversation and there is a completely pointless shaft style close-up that only ruins the scene.

I wanted to like this show but it just doesn't feel right for me.
Characters are trying too hard, especially the MC. I just don't give a fuck of his "issues"

Well, I only watched three episodes, and the last one was kinda good, but it'not something I will wake up on night to watch like Rakugo was.

Also, the MC could be playing shogi or tap-dancing it would change literally nothing, holy shit.

I would cut off the embellishments and quirks. A moderate approach would fit better, I guess. The story seems to be good by itself.
