Why do people act so stupid and oblivious in anime

Perhaps writers intentionally write a character's intelegence to follow the art style. And character design.

Anime watchers are just as bad when the show stops explaining what's going on to the viewer.

People do this in real life too. It's incredible, you'd think what passes for a functioning human being would actually be somewhat intelligent, but it's actually as dumb as livestock. It convinced me for good that there was no worth contributing to society if that was the kind of person I was expected to be. I'm serious, you might expect people to be reasonable, and follow logic in real life, but it's barely any better than stupid anime characters, and often much, much worse.
