Good but not great imo. As an adaption they played it way too safe and removed almost everything that would need a second season. They also cut all the characterization and worldbuilding at the beginning of the third arc. I know they couldn't include all of it but some would be nice. If you hate or can't put up with intentionally counterproductive and very flawed MCs you probably won't like this long enough for him to develop.

I don't know about the powertrip part. At the end of the day Subaru can never really do anything on his own. He just brought people together who had power. His solution most of the time is to sic someone actually strong on the problem. Tappei was also smart enough to cripple Subaru at the end of arc 4 and made his power level highly dependent on someone else (Beako). As you can guess, she's like the hyperdrive in Star Wars. Never around/ not working when things need to be dramatic. I think the right choice of words is that it loses most of its tension.

I'm also not too big of a fan of how the story likes killing subaru over and over every time he takes 2 steps forwards, then comes a life where things click and he manages to run half a mile before being struck down again. That happened with the white whale life and from what I've heard the last loop of arc 4 takes it to an extreme.

I don't know, it might depending on how you look at it. Last loop in arc 4 is pretty unique. He has a deal with the clown that he can subvert the gospel and solve the crisis without following the book in that loop otherwise he'll have to do what Roswaal says in the next loop. He was doing okay in the loop before but the clown deliberately messed things up.

Well, I at least want Subaru to prove she's not secondary to Emilia in his heart and marry Rem first. I mean, it's pretty obvious that Tappei plays up the wife aspect with Rem, and she's probably the main reason Re:Zero has a surprising amount of wedding fan art. Subaru's pretty much told her he wants to spend his whole life with her at his side, and wants to have an equal and supportive relationship with her.

I say he should just wife the Rem already. He was willing to do it even before he realized she was just as important to him as Emilia, so it shouldn't be hard for him to just go through and do it. He clearly wants to.

Honestly I would see that as more of an interesting direction for option 1, where Subaru, who's been pining after Emilia (who's hopefully gotten substantial character development by now) all this time while maintaining the potato in the back of his mind, is suddenly faced with this girl who he has seemingly openly confessed his love to. It would most certainly be the fastest way to drive conflict between the characters.

Arc 6 is probably going to wake up Rem. I think because of the characters involved, like Ram, that she should come back normal, although maybe there's some more shit they have to do to fully fix things. Probably any problem could be solved if they can get Ley to the tower somehow as an arc boss.

As for Arc 7, its supposed to involve Al heavily, so this is more fuel to Rem waking up in tact, because his beef is with her. I'm curious what the witch cult was actually doing messing with the Oni and if Al was involved at all, plus possible revelations to Rem and Ram's stuff. Ram is sort of inexplicably powerful, and it wasn't even a blessing, just super freak mutant Oni, and on the more subtle end, Rem is the only character not directly associated with the witches that can smell the witch stink, which gets more suspicious the more I think about it.

I still think that the greatest blow to Honda's pride would be for Al to NTR Rem away from him. I've already been predicting something like this. As in, the Gospels aren't instructions left by Satella or given by her in real-time, nor are they controlled by Pandora of Vainglory who seems to be the shadow leader of the Cult.

Rather, they're time-delayed instructions set in advanced by Subaru's locked away other persona. I believe there was a part in the scene where Roswaal realizes his Gospel was wrong, and one of his reactions was seemingly to assume the Sage might've had something to do with it. So, what if everything was planned in advance by Satella's lover? Even everything that happened to Rem, because he knew that would give him the motivation to do what he needed to and lead him where he needed to go? Sort of being a sleeper agent for his other self.

Then the visit to the Sage Tower starts to unlock these memories, as the image of Satella grows clearer and the Bishops, or perhaps those are just the faces his Sins are wearing after having grown in the shapes of the Bishops they consumed from the inside out, become more prominent and he starts feeling the urge to fulfill the goal of that other persona and has something of an identity crisis and starts freaking out as he catches glimpses of the things "he's" done or set in motion.

I suppose this process could also be jump-started if Gluttony ever showed up and tried to fuck with his memories, only to accidentally unlock and be overwhelmed by a portion of whatever is being held back from Subaru's conscious mind.

Then Subaru tries to talk about it with Rem after she wakes up.

I get the feeling that Rem is probably already half-convinced he's an apostate Witch Cultist, which is the stuff in his past he can't talk about. The thing is, the two motivational speeches they've shared were about starting over from zero and moving into the future. You'd probably get another variant of that, though maybe it'd get more indepth and confusing for the both of them, but I think Subaru would just decide to be Rem's hero by the end of it.

Not sure what interpretation you got from this last part, for me just says that he would be devoted to Rem, not that he would move his devotion from Emilia.

Also, you're confusing two things here, you're mixing his love for Rem and his self-blaming for all that which comes from his greed of saving everyone in a perfect future, he blamed himself for not realizing the fact that Rem was in danger and because his influence caused that, he wants to save Rem to atone for that, he is not suffering just because of his love.

Honestly this could be interpreted in a couple ways. With Emilia he either doesn't experience true despair, or it manifests as his inability to do anything, including accept his last out.

With Rem, it could be said that his option of suicide is an embrace of despair, or because he knows he has an out, is able to avoid it.

Because the value of that is something subjective, Subaru doesn't value them that way, so we don't have an objective parameter for that, and since he values them both in the same way, you can't say that he can't be like that for Emilia either, and because his suffering is not only for love, so your evidence of situations is not enough to estabilish something objective, and that is why is vague.

because some Remfags only uses his suffering pós-coma about her, and there is nothing that sugests he suffer more about Rem's deaths than Emilia deaths before the Arc 3 interlude, so because Emilia was never on the same situation as Rem that can't be reversed by RbD, you can't say that he wouldn't suffer like that for Emilia, that's what i'm saying, evaluating that when you don't have an equivalence is a flawed argument, Rem only have advantage in that for people who believe in this.

Also, what kind of objective parameters are you talking about exactly? Even if he does value both of them the same way as of right now that can be a subject to change in the future. With what most people are doing as of late is finding out the foreshadowing and plotlines just to see who he ultimately ends up with. Which seems to lean on Rem as of arc 6. But I guess anything like that is subjective as well.
