Not at all, the series has shown a few times that most quirks aren't instant ramen of superpowers, a lot of them require a lot from user's body (Deku's, Todoroki's) or experience (Beast Jeanist's as confirmed by All for One) and would be nearly useless when copied by Toga.

My beef is how ineffective the badguys are. Deku is the MC and he'll be fine even if he does somehow renders his arms useless so his damage is mostly just impetus for him to change and grow.

Between having Recovery Girl around to just magic people back from all non-fatal injuries (with minor timeout penalties for the multiple treatments needed for critical injuries) and the villains mostly only scoring what are honestly minor moral victories they seem really fucking weak.

Deku's thing is that he's so heroic because he's so empathetic. He instantly feels other peoples' pain and just can't stop himself from getting involved.

Bakugou treated him like absolute shit. Yeah he'd probably have tried to save him from Muddy anyway- but he got to experience getting caught by Muddy first hand and it was terrifying. He sees Bakugou get caught and flat out says how awful his experience was, then he sees Bakugou's eyes and how they're expressing the absolute, existential terror of death and pain and "please someone fucking save me" and he throws himself at Muddy.

Todoroki tells him his fucked up backstory and now suddenly Deku totally forgets winning the tournament and wants to break through to him.

etc. etc.

Basically, you hurt anyone he cares about and you hurt Deku. Deku likes the whole class pretty much, but Bakugou is still his "Friend". Losing a classmate would be devastating for him period, but seeing it cause Bakugou's facade to completely break would rip his heart out.

I'd bet on it being Kirishima just because Bakugou's toughguy facade completely breaking down due to loss would really shake the class and even the teachers. What do you do when the ONE guy who never breaks character is broken?

I did not think about it like that. Shounen usually do the direct impact so that can def be jarring for everyone. I'd absolutely love to se Bakugo break his tough guy facade. As Aizawa mentioned, Bakugou is an anchor for the class like Deku.

Deku always springs into action when it matters despite his obvious weaknesses and passive demeanor.

Bakugou is a big prick and borderline psychotic in his determination but of anyone in class HE is the dude you can count on to not flake out when the shit hits the fan. The dude never backs down, never gives up, and is 100% fire beginning to end. Him being a prick is annoying to the class a bit, but if he suddenly got really quiet and withdrawn everyone would probably find themselves kinda upset/uneasy because even his asshole nature is something you rely on for normalcy.

Like you could be upset about something, but see Bakugou still being Bakugou and be like, "Well, he's a prick but he's got his shit together still. I should be like that."
