Wasted potential: the character.

After all that hype and build up. She gets killed in a freaking tranning battle. Which ended up being pointless, as Kenpachi became a jobber throughout the final arc.

I mean I'll admit the fight was pretty cool and her new look was great. Would be nice if they made a novel about the founding of Soul Society with Yamamoto at his prime and the original Kenpachi.

She was one of my favorite characters.

I wish we could have seen her fight more

Basically more than half of your picture. The Karakura gang was underutilized. Bleach was better whenever it focused on the goings-on of Karakura Town and Ichigo's local friends. The SS should've stayed more in the background after the Rukia rescue arc. Instead, a lot of the older characters got shafted while Kubo started injecting new characters faster than he could come up with ideas for.

What would Yamada's bankai be like? His shikai literally is spam broken. It allows him to heal all wounds inflicted on a person and turn it into damage to deal at his opponent.

Whatever it was, I probably would've been happier with it. There was a really comfy spot right between the return from Rukia's rescue and Hueco Mundo arc. The arrancar arc was actually pretty good and Ichigo's friends were still around. Ichigo was finally learning the ropes of his powers and getting the hang of his mask and he had a new rival in Grimmjow. Hell, Grimmjow's and Ulquiorra's fights were probably the best part of Hueco Mundo, and that's because they were set up back in the arrancar arc where everything still felt fresh.

I was very sad to see her die that way. I knew something was up with her soon after she first appeared, but it all culminated in nothing but a powerup for Kenpachi, which turned him into a jobber. I loved Kenpachi, and he actually ended up less useful than he was before, even though his shikai was sweet.

Unohana should've at least been able to show off a little bit more, even if no one else but the viewer and whoever was unlucky enough to be the target of ire saw. I feel like it would've been an interesting turn if she had a pension to kill anyone who sees her even remotely serious in battle, which would tie well into Kenpachi having to surpass her or keep dying until he did so.
