Naruto is a gateway anime of the worst kind. It's a bad series, a clusterfuck of story and characterization that isn't very well done by any aspect, but which attempts to compensate for its weaknesses by adding in excessive shipping faggotry and DARKNESS. The normal anon can see this as the shit it is, and may enjoy it, hate it or be indifferent to it, but all the while recognizing that the series itself, regardless of their opinion, is plain bad.

My favorite arc as a whole was the Sound 5 Arc.What the series seemed to be building up was progressing perfectly at that point. We had a gang of ninjas each with their own stories getting development. It was super emotional to read/watch and I was fucking pumped for what everyone (including Sasuke) were going to become in 3 years.

Shippuden came, and it seemed like shit was gonna get the fucking poppin when that Kakuzu fight came up, but it completely collapsed upon itself when Chouji and Ino did nothing, and Naruto saved the day with a shitty Rasengan upgrade.

From that point it just became bullshit power ups and asspulls, while superior side characters got nothing.

The best parts about Part 2 honestly were all the portions that had no Team 7 involved, except for Kakashi. The main characters just became so unlikable.
