I agree those parts are good and it's sad it was skipped, but till think they made a good decision. With 12 episodes they would either have to rush everything to reach the end of school arc, have the whole season be the entering school arc, or going up to the elite class exam.

By outright skipping the start they can start at the essence of Keijo is, the actual sport, and go up to the end of school arc without needing to rush things too much.

Another reason the skip worked is because there is a big gap between the exam and the school arc. Besides Miyata and Nozomi, almost all characters with focus on the exam arcs won't appear ever again or will become background ones afterwards. Nozomi and Miyatas struggles and development during that arc are things that get resolved by the end of it (Nozomi deciding she actually want to win, Sayaka facing what happened in the end of her last Judo match), and in the future they have different struggles. The whole development between the two to become friends also is concluded by the end of exam arc.

trying to not spoil things too much, but both in the East vs. West matches and in pro Keijo matches, players can gang against other players and be ganged upon as well (and alliances can be formed before the match starts or during it). besides few special abilities both shown in the beginning of manga (ass gatling) and anime (ass missile, butt cannon, BtB attack), the class exchange arc introduces readers/viewers to the special abilities of not only elite class students, but of more advanced Keijo players; in the manga, it could be said that this arc serves to help get readers used to shonen superpowers (and a motivation for Nozomi and Miyata to find special abilities of their own to help them compete against the elite class members; Non and Aoba already had their abilities, they only weren't shown until then).

I'm surprised because even though they're physically similar, I thought they were different people because of the closed eyes, and how much she has improved compared to the East/West war arc, since her second match is a lot longer.
