We liked it, but it started sputtering in the back half.
Now we're all just waiting for Virgin Soul.

It was great for what it was. If you started the show for a fast paced, fun, campy action adventure then this show delivered. But if you wanted a serious, well thought out plot with complex characters then I can see why you'd be disappointed.

Honestly, they should have just stayed on the monster of the week formula for longer. It was better than the Hellheim plot that we ended up with.

mh, I liked it. But I didn´t expect a mindfucking story or something like that. Budget was low, Plot was like a good movie, nice little plottwists.
I don´t know how to call this genre, it wasn´t clearly shounen. Favaros theme fit perfectly it was kinda lika an adventure movie, indiana jones or something like that, MC is smart but not a mastermind, has got plans and also have always the luck he needs. Something like that.

OP here again, Now I know it! Not Indiana Jones but Pirates of the Carribean. Favaro was the anime version of Cap. Jack Sparrow.

would have been better if it focused more on the four chasing each other in 2x2 groups through fantasy spain, setting traps, arriving later at places where the other group already was and unfucking/fucking up even more the mess they made, changing groups, trading hostages, ol' switcharoo schemes, next level mind games and the like.

While I'd agree that the earlier parts were stronger than the overarching plot I wouldn't trade it for a monster of the weak setup. The dragon plotline gave the show a sense direction throughout and a sense of finality at the end. I hate when shows feel aimless in retrospect.

It did feel like pirates of the carribiean with high fantasy elements. But I don't remember the show looking cheap. The visuals seemed one of the better parts, I'd even call them great for a TV series

End goals are obviously important, but I feel like they should have just toned back the main plot. Kept it more of a road trip adventure to get to the dragon. Then in the last few episodes go plot heavy.

I rewatched this recently, and it's baffling how they handled Amira. She went from a strong badass to a woman-child in the matter of one drink, and was stuck that way for the rest of the series.
She was cute and all, but it seemed like such an odd thing to do. She feels like two different characters.

I'm very curious about Nina. The boys were more often than not something about of weak, underhanded, dumb or emotional while the Rita was perfect and Jeanne and Amira got played like a fiddle through all their major actions. FeMC should logically be in the former category despite the female part.
