Marimite is a really good show and that's the main reason to watch it. It's just that people who think it has anything to do with actual queer issues (outside of its one dedicated plot arc) or reality in general are off their rocker.

The phallic tree from Ep4 literally has a prison at its base, which is focused on in the next frame so that it dominates the screen.

The show is basically telling the audience and Cocona that if she chooses the heterosexual route, as Japanese society demands, then she will feel imprisoned and miserable.

You know I kind of feel like the story that the creators are trying to tell in these 13 episodes might just be too ambitious for something that short. Hence why we keep getting skips in time between episodes, there simply isn't time in the 13 episode series to have all of that happening on screen so it is just skipped as off screen action the characters imply happened which makes the story more unclear and confusing for some. I mean just look at the way they skipped over those two really cool lookin pure illusions where Yayaka stole the amorphous, those could have each had an episode built around themselves in a series with greater length. Even now with the speed the plot progresses and with all the skipping I feel like it's going to be difficult for them to finish the over arching plot in any satisfactory way unless the really ramp up the amount of plot important material each episode going forward. I mean at the moment the plot moves so slowly you barely notice it happening yet it does still advance.
