Wow anon this series was great but I forgot about it for some reason. I went into it not really expecting anything but it turned out it was a very good romance anime and the Farris wheel scene was just amazing. The exact point I knew I was in for something I didn't expect was with the kid and the grandma. I personally loved the twist and it completely makes sense when you think about it. Think about everything Homura has endured up until that point and Madoka has proven she wasn't to be trusted with power as she messed up again and again and Homura also didn't know if it was all a trick from the Incubators which had ruined her plans over and over again like literal demons and then you take into account how obsessed Homura is at attaining power to protect everyone. That's literally one of the main things she hates about herself. At one point she's literally crying talking about how she's so weak because she's obsessed with how weak she is in the first place and after all that to see the power to make everything right sitting at arms reach why the hell wouldn't she do what she did?

It's really simple. Homura derives her self-worth from mattering to Madoka. If she gets saved by Madoka, she stops being a thing. Since she can trust Madoka to always try and save her, she pushes her away as far as possible. She's caught up in the romance but doesn't want just the companionship.

It's also a director's response to fans in that fans are pressuring Homura to continue to exist. This essentially breaks the character, who really is a character designed to find closure.

Honestly it's the first time Homura is looking out for herself. If you really like Homura (the person), you should be rooting for her. The director is trying to point out that you don't really like her, you like her suffering. And that's true of everyone in the series - they don't really like her, they just like her heroism. Once she disturbs the order of things, everyone hates her if they can.

Well, Homura is a complicated person, after all, she wanted to suicide (kinda).
I said before I didn't know what to think anymore (I actually meant I didn't know what to believe anymore, silly me), but now I remember I do have an opinion about her now: she went nuts. She is crazy (she lost her coolness). She is highly questionable.
I like her character; who is she basically? she was suffering already before the events of the series, then she put herself on a mission she wanted to contanly insists knowing there is no happy ending (knowing suffering was innevitable). Now, pushed by her suffering, she became what she is now, so.. who is she actually, again? A villain? a relatively selfish person (if I'm alowed to say)?
It's complicated when you put it in that way

I actually liked this one lots anon. I think it kinda sounds like an Inuyasha theme which is a good thing in my opinion.
