It's actually my favorite.

But yeah, this is mstly because it is a weird mix of serious plot, good atmosphere, prefect OST and garbage production values with some really shitty writing.

If you watch it, watch it dubbed, the jap voices are too good for this show.

It is so, so good.

I can't remember anything from this series. Just that the first episode or so was following the manga with Alucard fighting Alexander then at the end some weird villain appeared. No idea about what happened in between.

Watch the first half. IMO, the Valentine Brothers part, especially the ones with Alucard in it, are better in the TV series (animation excluded). Everything after the brothers is bad filler and must be skipped.

About a third of the old anime is the same as manga/ova, but the rest is made up by the studio. It's pretty bad honestly, especially how they seem confused as to what to keep as the main plot points, because nothing made much sense in the end. It's rather uninspired, but has god-tier intro, and as other anons said, great OST.

However, as many anons have said before, don't bother with it if you've seen Hellsing Ultimate and read the manga

Don't listen to the haters, the TV series had its good points, the main one being the soundtrack. I also thought it had a really nice atmosphere the OVAs were lacking.

But that's just my opinion, you should probably watch it and form your own opinions rather than letting /a/ decide what your taste is.
