Have any of you seen this? What does /a/ think about it
Great movie.
Good movie but don't expect much discussion about it from this shithole.
It's good aye.
We had a couple of threads when it first got subbed, most people liked it. Think the only thing was that quite a few didn't like the electric guitars on the soundtrack.

It was fun.

I don't see you discussing it either, besides offering your baseless opinion.

>electric guitars
Entirely out of place. Felt like a parody of something.
It was good, I think it's my favourite Hara movie. I loved all the little references to different Hokusai works.

While interesting, nothing special.
I thought it was pretty boring. I don't think I really got it at all.

Now I'm not saying it worked but I'm sure that was the point. Anachronistic music for a movie about a woman who didn't really belong in that time and place.

good, ost is only complaint
/a/ would rather talk jerk about other stuff though
didn't like it. not Japanese enough to 'get' it. pretty to look at but emotionless.

I can't remember, does herlittle sister die?

Yes.
I thought it was quite interesting, especially as a followup to the MFA Hokusai exhibit that I went to last year:

The animation is quite beautiful in an understated way, and it gives a very non-stereotyped view of the artistic subculture in late 18th / early 19th century Japan that's quite a bit different than what you might be used to from, say, Kenshin.
However, it's not easy to create a biopic of someone - Katsushika Ōi - about whom very little is actually known, including when she was born and how she died. As such, the movie peters out in an abrupt, brief first-person narration from O-Ei stating a few facts about the rest of her life and the lives of the artists she worked with. Absent the ending, though, it's quite good.
I liked it but don't remember much.
There's a nearby theater going to play it but I'm not sure if it's worth seeing again after the BD has been out so long.

Its also picked up a bunch of critical and film festival awards internationally which to /a/ would make it for "normies" and thus unacceptable.
