Koharu got a send off well above her status. Considering she never had a performance, having S4 turn up at her going away party is a bit much. I bet there have been a lot of sidles that have had to leave and that barely got a farewell from their room mate.

Koharu talks a lot about how Italy is a new start with new meetings and new aikatsu, so perhaps she might develop a parallel story and come back later. Or perhaps they were just filling in things to make it seem like she wasn't about to fall off the planet.


Hime and Yume are The Chosen Ones(TM) gaining abilities in the Aikatsu system well above their own power, but it takes it's toll.
Hime trained hard to gain her own abilities and not rely on rainbow for performances.

When an episode starts with an overbearing feeling of being left behind by two of the people you love the most, you know it's going to hit hard. Up until the finish of Yume's performance I felt kind of detached, but the latter half had me entranced.

Coming out with all of this information about Yume's powers was very well done exposition by Hime. How it's simply a part of the Aikatsu System, how it's both a blessing and a curse, how you can overcome it with absurdly hard work. The System itself is usually just accepted and put into the background, but I'm happy with the decision to give it more focus, considering its importance.

All of the goodbyes were heartrending. By the time Yozora and Asahi had shown up I'd almost forgotten about them with everything else happening, but I'm sure I won't forget about their gifts. But it was only when I saw Yume break down in the nurse's office that I really lost it. The realization that everything had gone wrong, and it was her own fault. And then later that night when she found not just Koharu's letter, but her candy with messages inside the wrappers that cemented this episode as one of the most touching.

Yume, too, finally has a real motivation. So as never to fail again, not for some audition, but for her best friend, she will take control of her power. This is the clear turning point for everyone, and there will be an air of seriousness over the rest of the series.

Headmaster Moroboshi announces the Autumn Fest during an assembly. The event's theme is a "three person unit" and students are allowed to group with other students from different years and classes. This announcement caused a first year in the Beauty Class, Kasumi Mahiru's, heart to throb. One S4 member, Kisaragi Tsubasa, approaches Mahiru with a proposition.

Judging by the preview Yuzu, Ako, and Yume will form one unit (they sing One Step), and Mahiru and Tsubasa (and Yozora?) will form another unit.

Yume will fail the next audition due depression and pressure piling up on her. Rola will slap her and tell her "I DIDN'T WANT TO WIN THIS WAY".

If you pay attention, Moroboshi only told her at a similar time to Yume. Hime collapsed after her first stage, but then kept suffering and losing her voice several more times, just like Yume.

I swear, how do some of you people even live without using your brains? Is all you can think about the CG performances, despite them being only a small part of the episode? Do you not understand that 1) There are other things besides them like modeling shows and acting? and 2) Things happen offscreen that we don't see? We are getting one slice of their lives, not following them 24/7. It's absurd and stupid to think that Koharu, or anyone, hasn't had a standard idol performance. You literally need one to get into the school. Even last episode, if you count all the sidles, there were several who apparently weren't in the pie charts but who were clearly there. They all will perform/performed. (Although that begs the question, if Koharu left 11/4, then when was the soccer finals?) Anyway, it's just stupid. Your measure of importance is that of a child's, not a thinking person's.

I'm mad, I'm sad. I cried. I didn't want to like this episode, but it was a really great episode. Koharu's departure isn't just a cheap way to write off a character, and it definitely shows growth for both her and Yume. Hime also finally decided to actually talk to Yume. Yume not even being able to see Koharu off really hit me though, especially with the scene of her reading the letter.

I love Koharu so much. It hurts, the tears aren't stopping. She better come back in S2.

I didn't get the feeling this is it forever for Koharu. Yume never got to say goodbye and it wouldn't feel right for the staff to leave it at that in terms of interactions between the two. Yeah, we could just see Yume sending mail to Koharu, but it would be somewhat of a cop-out.

I have one major issue with the notion of Stars not getting a second season, and it's Lily's existence. The series will obviously end with Yume becoming S4 and there'd be no need to introduce another rival halfway through if she's already meant to win, they would've kept it at her versus Rola. Especially with Lily being shown to be designing her own brand, to me it seems a shoe-in that she'll become S4 and the second season will introduce her clothing brand.

I don't watch Stars so I won't comment in depth, but from a superficial pov, it was obvious before spoilers release that Koharu would leave because she never got a CG performance, and I feel slightly refrained from watching Stars because of it. That's why many episode either start with or contain them jogging or leaving class or in homeroom for about a minute. But it's pointless to expect 10 minutes devoted to just training each episode. Akari started out with no idol background, other than she enjoyed watching Ichigo on TV. She wasn't good enough to pass the audition and was rejected admission from Starlight. When she was given the chance to get in, she had to go to boot camp just to avoid getting kicked out.

Then somehow, with no real rival to compete against, she just becomes SLQ and then goes on to be on par with Ichigo. Yes, she works hard. But what about all the other idles? Other than being the MC and having plot armor, how does someone with no background, no talent, and no rivalry end up becoming the best through hard work alone? Lots of other idles worked hard too, some who had actual talent and a background in the industry.

She's been working hard throughout the whole anime, incorporating the lessons learned into her Aikatsu.

If not showing her running and going to the dress making room this episode meant she didn't train at all then it'd mean Rola has been mostly slacking off all this time and cramming some running the days before the audition wouldn't mean shit towards overall Aikatsu levels.

Rola needed a special spark to captivate the audience, which isn't achieved by just physical training like she'd been doing.

Hard-work is an useless measure of skill because EVERYONE works hard in Aikatsu. What makes x character hard work more than the hard work of y character? It's impossible to measure.
