Even if it's upscaled it's slightly better quality, and most people have fast enough connections to make the difference between downloading 720 or 1080 negligible.

Storage is also irrelevant since those are going to get deleted anyway, who stores CR rips?

Not every show gets BD rips with proper subs. I enjoy rewatching old shows every now and then, and sometimes you get stuck with CR or worse, funishit.
