ITT: anime/manga that had dramatic changes in tone
pic very related.
>That feel when you can't find any Anime as good as Hunter x Hunter
Are manga writers dumb or is Togashi just too good?
Gundam ZZ, also the switch between the ending of Zeta and the start of ZZ if you count that.
Onani Master Kurosawa comes to mind.

I've only gotten to the second chapter and totally forgot about it. As much as /a/ raves about it I seriously need to see what's up with this manga that as far as I know is just about a guy who likes to whack it in the school bathroom.

The first part is like that, and it's a decent little comedy but nothing special. The second part, after the tone shift, is the part that stands out.
Definitely 2016 Berserk
Someone post the moefied Berserk parody

Sure the tone kind of changed but people were being killed from the start.

didnt she kill snake guy in the beginning? I guess the killing wasn't as dramatized until ant arc, but people still died.

Probably one of my favorite reading experiences. Went from "wow the novelty of this joke wore off almost as soon as it was introduced, why am I still reading this" to "my soul feels like it's been cleansed".

second half is shit
>>149249751
the atomsphere sure, but people died from the start so it wasnt too unexpected.

its true that people died from the start, but holy shit it got so much more brutal in this arc. those kids got eaten at the beginning and thats when I knew things were heating up, but damn, ponzu's death borderline too far.
not because she was an important character or anything, but i guess mostly because she was a helpless girl. and not just getting shot, but then the bug kept shooting her body and then devoured her body on the spot. that scene was guro-tier, way different from the tame deaths at the beginning where it would be some faceless extra getting karate chopped by hisoka or something

But Gundam ZZ isn't anime.

You start off with a fun comedic space western. Then Legato and the Gung-Ho Guns are introduced. Very jarring shift upon first viewing.

there's a lot you can achieve when you sacrifice your physical and mental health and only get 4 hours of sleep a night for nearly 2 decades.
Like, the reason why Miura and Togashi keep taking breaks isn't cause their lazy, its cause they'd literally die if they didn't.

keep going, unlike a lot of other manga OMK is telling a story with a distinct beginning middle and end. Its building to one of the most accurate portrayals of the psychology of teenagers and especially young men.

Well everyone should know that Togashi has chronic back pain which is understandably crippling for a mangaka, anyone calling him lazy must be memeing.
I don't actually know the deal with Miura though, something something idolmaster something something heart problems?
