Terrible year overall. At least 2017 looks much better.

So far only Flip Flappers, in my opinion. Some movies probably, once they're available. I think this year was even worse than last year.

Wasn't really a fan of season 1. It was okay. I think 2015 and 16 are okay because of some good movies. All the stuff I thought was guaranteed to be solid for those years ended up disappointing, too, so I dunno man.

I rewatched the first season after the announcement and it was even better than I remembered. For sure one of the best TV anime of the last years with stuff like Ping Pong, Space Dandy, Penguidrum and Tatami.
And the only recent major disappointment I can remember was Kyousougiga TV. Pretty much everything else went whithin expectations.

You know what I liked about Kyousogiga? It has excellent art direction. I liked the concepts; but the direction with he plot and story line was what really disappointed me. I thought that was honestly pretty bad where people took a good concept and presentation and wreck it to kingdom come. That's what annoyed me about it.

That's Matsumoto in a nutshell for me. If you separate her art direction from everything else, it's very cool. Creative, dynamic, experimental. But man do I not enjoy her work. Except the Heartcatch movie, that was pretty good.

The ONAs were amazing. The direction and art design were incredible, the animation solid and the setting and characters intriguing. I honestly believed it had the chance of being the FLCL of the '10.
Then the TV series happened.
The first half was acceptable, even if direction and animation were neutered.
But once it went past the material of the ONAs, the plot went to absolute shit, and the sloppy direction and lack of animation became unreal.
Such a shame.
