Monotheistic religions are supposed to be. Polytheistic religions aren't mutually exclusive at all.

There is no reason for a polytheist not to accept your God (even if your religion is monotheistic) and pray to the bearded dude you favor. There is only one problem. Once the polytheist has done that, he is religiously bound to abandon his old Gods, turning him into a monotheist.
