That is poetry in a way. Reiji was introduced as being this calm collected king-like figure who was able to manipulate the full cast as he wished and took pride in his mastery of different dimension demons.

But, when faced with controlling the ACTUAL thing, Zarc, he's basically just a child playing with things beyond his control.

Just like how you all expected Gongenzaka to go down after summoning a huge Benkei monsters while stopping some enemy so Yuya can flee and how you expected Sawatari to get his first serious duel against Yuri and finally dying getting respect from everyone, Reji didn't go down like people expected either. Sora is also still alive for no reason other than to be the commentary of next week's duel.

I honestly don't know what they plan to do now, Yuri's going to win against Yugo,Kaito and Edo and hes not in Hitsu ni mode so it's carding time for 2 of those, maybe 3 if Sora is legitimately un able to move after the beating Yuri gave him prior, Yugo will probably be left there because the writers don't want him out of the show for some reason.

Consider the fact that Judai's winning strategy was to flip the field spell face-down so he couldn't activate traps, then steamroll Neosphere with something with 8000+ ATK.
