CCS is 10/10 patrcian's choice traditional mahou shoujo, though it wasn't made in a time where everything was one season and 12-13 eps, so in retrospect it'll feel full of filler.

It's like the 90s mahou shoujo meets SoL, almost a precursor to "moeshit"

Really good, needs a DVD rerelease.

Sakura is a great lead character. She fits the trope of 'genki', but can also be very caring and emotionally sensitive at times too (did I mention she is cute?). Shaoran is also a great character and goes through some amazing character development from mysterious rival to (tsun)dere love interest. The rest of the supporting cast is also filled with interesting characters. The cards have enough variety that they make great monster of the week; the same formula that worked for Sailor Moon.As a bonus, after the cards are caught they show up again as Sakura's allies which makes them more interesting. My favorite part of the show is the way it breaks the magical girl transformation sequence trope, via Tomoyo's outfit wardrobe. It gives the show an excuse to have Sakura dress up in a silly outfit, but we get a different outfit every episode. Because variety is the spice of life (and I love how they animated the wand transform sequence multiple times for all the different outfits).

they only use one card occasionally and that's it, please, even yu-gi-oh reuses more frequently the most well known duel monsters, and that was more of a toy driven show.

now that we got a sequel they are trying to shake up teh relationship with sakura x syaoran by having him working for eriol and keeping secrets from sakura.

I think its success lead to the downfall of CLAMP. It stacked up all these problems in story, Both plot and characterization, and resolved them in a mediocre manner at best; and fans ate it up.
