Honestly Hibike is the only anime hitting the right spot in all regards. Flip Flappers, Rakugo, Thunderbolt, Mob Psycho, etc are enjoyable but I don't think I'll remember them by next year.

Are you serious? So far the melodrama that is now thankfully over has been fucking underwhelming and frustrating. The show has failed to make me give a shit about either Mizore or Nozomi.

I've seen KonoSeikai at Tokyo Film Festival. It's fantastic. Very strong theme, fantastic execution, it handles its mood changes incredibly well. It just leaves a lasting impression.

Considering this year's movies, GARO DIVINE FLAME will be sakuga fans favourite. Park Sung-ho did amazing job as co-director and animation director. Koe no Katachi is also very good visually but I wasn't really that invested in the story and characters. kimi no na wa. is also visually very strong, many well-know animators participated in the creation of the movie. But it's kind of weird Shinkai. I liked his Hoshi no koe since that was his auteur work and I liked that.

Doukyuusei was fantastic. Nakamura's original manga certainly helped. But the movie managed to portray the story and characters with great care and delicacy.

I live in the country and it felt like they were making fun of me. If you cut out the magic it was literally my life but more boring. Picking stuff off the side of the road and cooking it, chasing poultry around, spending hours tilling soil to farm it, etc. But with cute girls.

At least it had some pretty old european style pagan magic which you rarely see in anime but I still couldn't watch more than a few episodes before I wondered why I was watching reruns of my life and didn't just go outside to go do it for the 100th time instead.
