I got into this pretty recently and I'm kinda lost with all the extra material here
what is there to read apart from the Wakaba manga?

Spoiler ahead.
Wakaba made a fucking huge speech (mostly written by Taisha) in front of the people to encourage them.
Chikage left her room to go meet Takashima but when she got there, Wakaba was already there before her.
Chikage couldn't hear what they were talking about but when she saw them chatting happily together, she felt that there was no place for her there because while those two are both splendid heroes, she herself is not.
When Wakaba saw and called out to Chikage, Takashima stood up and went to her side but tripped.
When she was about to fall, Chikage planned to go catch her but since Wakaba was closer, she was the one who caught Yuuna.
At that, Chikage ran away, and then got surrounded by Taisha members and taken home like some sort of criminal.
Turned out Wakaba and Takashima were talking about how they should all try to go ask the Taisha to lighten their punishment on Chikage again.
At home, Chikage literally destroyed everything in her room. She felt like she has lost everything, her power, her value, the people's love for her and now even her place at Takashima's side. Wakaba was the one who stole all of them.
Chikage texted the Taisha, telling them that she has reflected on her action and has calm down now.
Jukaika happened while Wakaba was eating lunch with Hinata.

However, Chikage appeared and fought alongside with Wakaba.
Wakaba was relief to see her as for the past months, Chikage had been her only partner in battle.
While the battle was going well, though, Chikage started attacking Wakaba, even using her trump card against her, saying that if Wakaba would just disappear then the people's trust and love for her would become Chikage's.
Wakaba didn't fight back but only kept avoiding both Chikage's and the Vertexes' attacks at the same time while wondering why everything has to be this way and when did she go wrong.
Just when Chikage was about to kill Wakaba, she started to lose her power for unknown reason.
For whatever reason, Chikage reverted back to her civilian form and couldn't even use her scythe normally.
Vertexes all came down to attack Chiakge, Wakaba intervened and protected her.

My take on the "why only girls" is that Shinju has something to do with the earthly goddess of death and the underworld. (Which would link to Sonoko calling Shinju the master of the afterlife). And since that one goddess was also originally the representation of the female half of divinity (before the whole dying in a fire business), it makes sense any power transferred would go trough girls.

I still don't agree that this was the best way to end her arc. Well, I mean, not the end itself, the final bits of the path. She dying for Wakaba's sake is amazing, the fact alone that she didn't do it for the sake of the pink MC but for her own is great, but, the in between still irks me, I never liked this kind of over the top agressive breakdowns and one thing I loved about YuYuYu was that there was always a friend to stop them. (Not counting Tougou's, which is a different beast and had a friend cheering her up on the act)

Maybe in Manga format or Animated they will convey it better, but I really didn't like it.

Chikage has been censored not because she did anything wrong, but her death will be what triggers Yuuna to go berserk and make the world fire.
