This got recommended to me in one of those "Whatever anime gets posted below yours, you have to watch the whole thing" threads way back in May, and I just finished the last 3 episodes.
I'm making this thread to say THANKS ANON!
What an incredible ride that was. At times very lighthearted, but with an overall very tragic tone right through to the end.
This show is a true masterpiece.
Galaxy Express 999 thread
Dropped somewhere around episode 20. It was cringeworthy.

Oh, I feel so sorry, underaged "ELITIST" friend.
7:00 might have been too early to make this thread

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who loves 999. OP, I'm of the opinion that the movie is practically worthless compared to the TV series - agree?

If you've seen Kino's Journey, 999 is like the 70's cartoon prequel to it.
999 is an episodic show where each stop is symbolic and has some kind of message - it has all the easy things you'd expect about life, love, and courage, but surprisingly for a kid's show they spend a lot of time on death, war, sorrow, the grieving process, depression, and suicide. And then on top of that you get to see Tetsuro grow slowly through the course of the series, and watch as Maetel's conflicted motivations and feelings are slowly revealed. If you can accept the 70's cartoon-y style, it's fabulous.

Currently on episode 95 and I just don't want this ride to end.
I liked it a lot but I have a few complaints about it. For starters every episode felt too formulaic and repetitive, however the concept of the episodes or people were always interesting enough to make them memorable but it was a little boring sometimes. Still a remarkable anime though.

Yeah. Dismissing something because it's "cringe worthy" without providing any kind of reason beyond that doesn't make you sound like an underage /b/tard at all.
>It's a someone steals Tetsuro's pass episode
What should I watch next by Leiji considering I've only seen Arcadia of My Youth, 999 and Queen Emeraldas. I was thinking of the Maetel Legends OVA next.

Even though it's not a pure Leiji work, Space Battleship Yamato.

>It's an anon keeps pushing this "someone steals Tetsuro's pass every episode" meme episode
>>148995451
Well if you've only seen Arcadia of My Youth, then I'd suggest watching the full Captain Harlock series from the 70s
I watched the movie, is the show still worth it?
>>148995856
The movie and TV series are very different - the TV series is episodic and philosophical, the movie is a condensed version of the frame story behind the TV series (with some significant differences).

I'm 5 and what is cringe?
I'm sad to hear that the voice actor Kimotsuki passed away this month who played the conductor in Japanese.
999 was apparently the anime fans want most a reboot of, if they did reboot it, do you think they'd do a sequel or start Tetsuro's journey all over again with modern animation?I think Tetsuro's story is over and done with, if they do decide to bring it back then I think it should be post-Maetel's farewell in 110, it'd be interesting seeing where her journey takes her now that Promethium is destroyed."

If there was ever an anime that didn't need a reboot, it's GE999.

>that crushing feeling when no english blu ray
Maetel aside, who was second best girl and why was it Ryuzu?
I don't understand what's so great about it. It's just a boring kids show.

Thank you for your constructed argument.
If you think its for kids, it's your right.
But-of course-you can't impose your point of view to everyone.
