it's super neato. Great visuals, and it also has two things about it that are super rare in anime:
-it has a German, adult protagonist
-it's a haunted house story that's played entirely straight.

Although, a guy told me that it was like Presence but better. I watched it expecting it to be like Presence but better, and was disappointed in that regard. Because it's not like Presence, and it's not better.

Magnetic Rose was directed by Koji Morimoto and written by Satoshi Kon.

One of the best examples of "show don't tell" I've ever seen. No unnecessary dialog dumps to explain things you don't actually need to know or scenes staying longer than they are needed. OST 10/10 even though it's just 8 songs.

Legitimately feel like buying it to have it on my shelf eventually when want and budget finally meet someday.

Otomo was a bad writer.

It was one of my favorites back in the day just for the quality of the animation

I mean the those scenes with her look like she actually fell from the roof and he was reminded. The beginning where those other guys talked about her like she's still alive made me think twice, but i guess he could just not have told them...
